Actor Lee Yi-kyung (36) denied the personal life rumors surrounding him as "false information," and the controversy reignited after an internet user presumed to be the person who raised the allegations reappeared and posted an explanation. But this matter is not a simple expose mishap; credibility is greatly shaken as it was confirmed that the person had previously made a false accusation and demanded money.
On the 20th, an individual identifying themselves as A, who said they were "the account that posted about Lee Yi-kyung," posted an additional statement on an online community. He said, "I did once ask, 'Can you give me money?' At the time I had personal circumstances, but I never actually received money," he claimed. He also added, "This post was not about money but to prevent other women from experiencing the same thing," and described himself as "a German who is not fluent in Korean."
Earlier, A posted on a portal blog a post titled 'revealing Lee Yi-kyung's true appearance' and released captures of messages containing sexual conversations that he said were exchanged with actor Lee Yi-kyung. Although the post was soon deleted, some content spread rapidly through online communities and social media, amplifying the fallout. The original post is currently deleted. However, concern is growing over a second wave of spread as screenshots continue to circulate.
Moreover, the point to note here is that this is not the first time such an expose has occurred. The agency said, "The poster previously demanded money and threatened with similar false content several months ago," and added, "At the time the poster acknowledged the falsehood and sent a direct apology email. Nevertheless, they posted the same claims online again."
Accordingly, the assessment that A's claims have effectively lost credibility is widespread. Online reactions are dominated by comments such as "It's not credible that someone who already apologized has appeared again," and "Isn't this just stirring public opinion from abroad; the fact that they're a foreigner makes it hard to trust." On the other hand, some say, "Since the matter has grown, the agency should disclose evidence clearly."
Ultimately, this incident has spread beyond a simple rumor to signs of repeated false accusations and demands for money by a person living abroad. Given that actor Lee Yi-kyung has been active in variety shows and drama, voices in the industry are saying, "A cautious approach is needed until the facts are confirmed rather than excessive speculative remarks."
In response, Lee Yi-kyung's agency, Sangyoung ENT, immediately released a statement saying, "All content currently circulating online is false," and added, "We will take a tough legal response to the clear distribution of false information and defamation." With the agency already formalizing legal action, attention is focused on whether this case will lead to a stern warning against false accusations and how the rumors surrounding actor Lee Yi-kyung will be resolved.
