The legendary Britpop band Oasis, which dominated the 1990s, will visit Korea for the first time in 16 years to meet Korean fans.
According to the concert industry on the 21st, Oasis will hold a performance at 8 p.m. that day at Goyang Sports Complex in Goyang, Gyeonggi. It is the first time in 16 years since 2009 that Oasis has staged a concert in Korea.
Since forming in 1991, Oasis has sold more than 90 million records worldwide. All seven of the band's studio albums topped the U.K. charts. But the band disbanded in 2009 due to discord between the Gallagher brothers, Noel and Liam, who are the core of the group.
This tour is part of a reunion tour that Oasis is carrying out for the first time in 16 years after the Gallagher brothers dramatically reconciled. The brothers have not given media interviews since, so the specific trigger for their decision to reunite is not yet known.
Following their first Korea concert in 2006, which sold out every seat, Oasis visited Korea twice in 2009 alone—once for a solo concert and once as a festival headliner. During that tour, they showed a special affection for Korean concerts and fans by performing "Live Forever," which they rarely played at the time.
Korean fans signaled high expectations by selling out tickets from the first day of sales for the Korea concert. From the 16th to the 26th of this month, more than 11,000 fans made reservations to visit Oasis's official pop-up store that opened in Seoul.
