Pop star Britney Spears confessed that she "suffered brain damage."
On the 20th (local time), foreign outlet Page Six reported that "Britney Spears claimed she suffered brain damage as controversy grows over the publication of her ex-husband Kevin Federline's memoir 'You Thought You Knew.'"
According to the report, Spears posted a long message on her social media that day, saying, "As I mentioned in the last part of my memoir 'The Woman in Me,' I was trapped in a locked space with no privacy for four months. I was forced, illegally, to be unable to move my feet or body."
She went on, "That experience injured my body, and I felt that the balance of reason and consciousness in my body and mind completely collapsed. For five months I couldn't dance or move my body."
Spears also wrote, "Looking back now, my posts or dancing may have looked foolish, but they reminded me that I could 'fly' again," adding, "My wings were broken, and it seems I suffered brain damage a long time ago. But I have come out of that difficult time, and I am grateful to be alive."
She emphasized, "My writing may sound stupid, but I want my story now to convey some real meaning amid all the 'garbage rumors' about me." She posted the message with a photo showing her from behind riding a horse.
This post drew attention as it was published ahead of the release of a shocking memoir by Britney Spears's ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
Federline earlier claimed in his memoir that "Spears watched the children with a knife in her hand while sons Sean and Jayden slept," and alleged that "Spears used cocaine while breastfeeding the children, hit her eldest son, and wished the children would die."
He also wrote, "I feel Britney is heading toward an increasingly tragic end. If the situation doesn't change now, something big will happen soon, and then our sons will have to bear all the pieces."
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline married in September 2004 and had two sons, but divorced after three years.
