On DongSang-iMong 2, Ji So-yeon and Song Jae-hee safely delivered twin siblings amid an emergency situation, finally sharing the happy news that their family has become five.
On the 20th episode of SBS variety show DongSang-iMong Season 2 — You Are My Destiny, the D-day for the couple Ji So-yeon and Song Jae-hee to deliver twins by cesarean section was depicted.
Ji So-yeon, who was pregnant with twins, made a surprise appearance with a full-term belly. But Song Jae-hee surprised everyone by saying, "Her face is the same. Only her belly came out," noting Ji So-yeon's unchanged beauty. He also complained that the babies weighed 5–6kg, saying it was difficult. At this time Ji So-yeon worried about the first child's reaction to meeting a younger sibling, and Lee Ji-hye empathized, saying, "It was actually hard and serious because the first child would be greatly shocked."
The two then arrived at the hospital. In fact, the amniotic fluid broke earlier than scheduled, and they almost had to go to a university hospital. Because it was a preterm birth, there were concerns about the babies breathing on their own. They were actually at 35 weeks. As the surgery approached, Ji So-yeon complained of pain and even showed signs of uterine contractions. Severe labor pains eventually became an emergency, and they hurriedly prepared for surgery.
The surgery was brought forward. Moreover, the operation time lengthened. Medical staff said, "The procedure is going well, but one side of the anesthesia was insufficient, so we will add more anesthesia," explaining that the surgery was delayed due to anesthesia issues. An unexpected situation occurred because the twins were pressing on nerves. It was a worrying scene because it was a multiple birth.
After more than 30 minutes, amid anxious prayers, news of the twins' birth came. When the babies' cries were finally heard, Song Jae-hee, seemingly relieved, shed tears outside the operating room. Meeting the twin siblings, Song Jae-hee cried and could not stop saying to Ji So-yeon, "Honey, you endured a lot." Ji So-yeon also cried, saying, "The babies are so pretty."
In particular, they revealed the twins' names for the first time as O-reum and Ba-reum, and Song Jae-hee explained the reason for his tears: "Because it was hard to have a child, we went to the hospital; at the time they said the chance of having a child was 1%. But on that day, twins were born and we ended up with three children. I was grateful." Everyone responded, "They are the children who beat the 1% miracle," and offered even more congratulations.
Later, Song Jae-hee visited his wife Ji So-yeon and again said, "You endured a lot; you raised the babies well in your womb for nine months," and explained the situation, saying, "The son was wedged in the pelvis, and the daughter was floating above." Song Jae-hee lightened the mood with laughter by showing his wife a Marine Corps baby T-shirt, saying, "So the daughter was calm; the son must have come out training."
Earlier on Sept. 14, Ji So-yeon posted on her personal SNS, "My son Do-ha's birthday is Sept. 15. He was born at 3.2kg. My daughter Re-ha was born 1 minute later than her brother at 2.4kg," and shared an update a month after giving birth. Ji So-yeon recalled the birth, saying, "I am sharing this news with those who contacted me worried because there was no news even after the due date. Because of advanced maternal age and twins, we scheduled a cesarean section when she was full-term, but early labor came, so I was very anxious, worried and in pain." She added, "But after many prayers our family finally met. Now we open a new chapter from three members to five. I will also share baby news," and expressed gratitude, while everyone blessed the birth of the new lives.
Meanwhile, Ji So-yeon married Song Jae-hee in 2017 and gave birth to their first daughter, Ha-el, last year. She later became pregnant with twins through in vitro fertilization.
