Comedian Kim Jae-wook shared the news that his sister, who is battling cancer, underwent her third surgery, expressing his deep affection.
Kim Jae-wook said on social media on the 20th, "My sister had her third cancer surgery today," adding, "She went in just after 1 p.m. and came to the hospital room almost by 10 p.m. There was talk that she might have to be taken to the intensive care unit in the middle, which made my heart drop, but fortunately she came to the hospital room."
He said, "Excluding the preparation process, the surgery lasted seven hours and she endured it well," adding, "I don't yet know how it went, but I'm proud she endured and came out well."
Kim Jae-wook said that on the day of the surgery his mother called in tears, so he took his eldest son and visited the hospital.
He wrote, "Ji-woo hugged grandmother and asked her to write a handwritten letter to her aunt on a leaf that had turned red and deliver it," adding, "That's what family is like. A mother is consumed with worry when her daughter is sick, and the daughter worries about her mother, and family love deepens."
Kim Jae-wook added that the day was also his 12th wedding anniversary, saying, "Because my sister had surgery, we quietly marked it with a small cake."
Earlier, Kim Jae-wook appeared on MBN's 'Exclusive World' aired in August and revealed that his sister had been diagnosed with sarcoma and was undergoing treatment.
He also wrote on his social media, "A few years ago, I went for a checkup on my own and they found angina, so I had my health checkup again after a long time. Today I received contrast dye and had a vascular CT scan and an echocardiogram," updating his condition. He went on, "My sister had two major cancer surgeries, and I heard the bad news that something has shown up again. As soon as my tests were finished, I rushed to my sister and checked the results with her," cautiously revealing the situation.
Kim Jae-wook gained great popularity in the mid-2000s for the character "Jennifer" in the "Bongsunga Academy" segment of Gag Concert. He married a non-celebrity woman in 2013 and has two sons. He also continued his music activities, releasing a trot album in 2020 under the name Kim Jae-rong.
