Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B proudly defended the merits of formula feeding while pregnant and shared candid, realistic parenting concerns.
Cardi B recently said on an X (Twitter) space Live broadcast, "Pumping literally takes all day," and added, "Breastfeeding takes so much time, and some women have to go back to work right away to make a living. They don't have time to sit all day."
She also confessed, "Even after pumping for two hours, I only got about 2 ounces. Sometimes the baby still wants to eat two hours later, and sometimes the baby is hungry again after 45 minutes," and said, "At times I wondered, 'Am I a lesser mother than other women?'"
Cardi B said she has joined an organic formula brand as its Chief Confidence Officer. The brand's campaign delivers the message that "every parent should be able to choose the parenting method that works for them."
She said, "Not feeding a baby is what's bad; feeding formula is never bad," and added, "Not every mother has to do the same thing. Just because returning to touring is right for me doesn't mean everyone should do that."
Cardi B is currently pregnant with her fourth child with NFL player Stefon Diggs. She has Culture (7), Wave (4), and 13-month-old Blossom with her ex-husband Offset.
Meanwhile, Cardi B said, "When I had my third child, I stayed consistent with exercise and recovered quickly," and added, "I hope this birth goes just as smoothly."
Many female fans have offered strong support for Cardi B's frank remarks about the realistic difficulties of breastfeeding, saying, "I can relate," and "My way is right no matter what anyone says."
