Actor Bae Jung-nam said goodbye forever to his pet dog Bell, who was his one and only family in the world.
On the 19th the SBS variety show My Little Old Boy aired the last moments with Bell, Bae Jung-nam's pet who died last month. Earlier, on the 29th of last month Bae Jung-nam shared on his personal social media, "Bell crossed the rainbow bridge due to a sudden heart attack," delivering the heartbreaking news.
Bell had been diagnosed with total paralysis from an acute disc condition, but after 1 year and 7 months of rehabilitation showed the miracle of getting back on its feet. For that reason Bell was more than family to Bae Jung-nam. The broadcast showed the happy times the two shared like a panorama, moving viewers' hearts.
But misfortune came to Bell suddenly. Although Bell was able to walk again through rehabilitation, an unexpected heart attack ultimately took its life. Beside Bell, Bae Jung-nam sobbed, saying "Get up, are you awake," and could not continue, saying, "I'm sorry, dad… please stay a little longer." He then whispered, "Bell, you worked hard," swallowing his tears.
Before heading to the crematorium, Bae Jung-nam visited the rehabilitation center filled with memories of Bell, saying, "Please stay a little longer," as he recalled traces of Bell. Even after arriving at the funeral hall he repeatedly stroked the cold Bell and was plunged into grief to the point he could not walk properly.
The rehabilitation center director said, "Bell was doing well in the morning. He walked five steps and then suddenly collapsed," describing the situation at the time. While filming a drama, Bae Jung-nam watched Bell's final moments via video call, and the director said, "He still heard his dad's voice before he went. Bell must have gone happily," offering comfort. Bae Jung-nam responded, "My chest is burning. It felt like my heart vanished. Still, I'm glad he didn't suffer more," he said.
Collapsing again in front of Bell's toys, Bae Jung-nam broke into tears, saying, "I'm sorry I couldn't be there for the last moments." He continued, "Dad will live well. Thank you, I love you. Don't be in pain and rest well. Thank you for coming to me. Dad loves you very much," delivering his final farewell to Bell as he cried.
His heart-wrenching farewell made everyone watching the broadcast cry. Bae Jung-nam's sincere farewell to Bell, his only family, made the hearts of those who consider pets family ache even more.
