Group KARD member BM shows a more advanced side as a solo artist.
BM will release his second EP PO:INT at 6 p.m. today (20) on various music sites.
PO:INT is an EP that captures BM's most honest and daring confessions across six tracks amid the boundary between ecstasy and ruin. As the executive producer who led the album work, BM is expected to unfold a deadly fantasy through various genres amid irresistible temptation.
The following are BM's questions and answers ahead of the release of his second EP PO:INT.
Q. This is your solo comeback about 1 year and 5 months after the release of your first EP Element. How do you feel about releasing the second EP PO:INT?
A. I'm really happy to be able to approach fans with a musically more grown appearance. I think I successfully established the musical branding of the artist "BM" through Element, and I hope PO:INT can be an album that takes one step further from that direction and shows a new side of BM.
Q. You acted as the executive producer of PO:INT. What is the "point" of the second EP that you would pick?
A. I think the point of this album is the vocal attempt. As a rapper, I had been in the process of continually finding vocal tone and expression methods, and through this work that part seems to have developed further. The vocals, which always felt like homework, came out much more naturally this time, and I was able to discover new possibilities within myself.
Also, PO:INT is an abbreviation for "Polluted Intimacy," and I tried to convey the message that one should be able to distinguish between love and instinct. Instinct makes people selfish, but I wanted to convey in this album that love is a selfless emotion.
Q. B.I participated as a feature on the title track "Freak (feat. B.I)". What led to the collaboration between the two of you, and what synergy did you feel while working together?
A. Senior B.I has been an artist who gave me great inspiration since my trainee days. In particular, many of his hit songs are based on mombathon or reggaeton, so I thought they would fit well with the amapiano-style "Freak." I really wanted to work together, and thankfully he gladly participated, and the work proceeded very smoothly. It's a song I've been preparing since last year, and it finally feels like the timing to reveal this project has come. I'm truly honored to work with senior B.I.
Q. On the 26th you will hold a solo fan meeting "零界唯一" in Shanghai, China. How do you feel about your first visit to China and could you give a slight spoiler about the fan meeting?
A. I'm really excited and thrilled because there haven't been many opportunities to meet Hidden Card (the fandom name) in China in person. I plan to spend an enjoyable and warm time talking a lot with the fans.
Q. Did the members react or send messages of support about your solo comeback?
A. The members always support me warmly. I'm always grateful that they sincerely like my music. They haven't seen it yet, but I'm curious to see their reactions because this music video is a bit risqué.
Q. Please say a word to the global fans who have been waiting for BM's solo EP.
A. This is my second solo EP, released about 1 year and 5 months after the first EP Element, which came out in May last year. If you loved Element, I'm sure you'll like PO:INT as well. I poured a lot of care and energy into it because you've waited for so long. Please look forward to it and show a lot of interest, and I want to meet fans around the world with this album.
