Comedian Shin Ki-ru took responsibility for viewers' Sundays with blue-chip-level performance in the variety world.
Shin Ki-ru showed peak variety skills by displaying golden chemistry with the members in episode 10 of Disney+'s new high-calorie variety show "Bae-bulli Hills," released on Oct. 19.
In that broadcast, Shin Ki-ru led the show with her sweet-and-deadly charm. When a proposal was made to elect a prison ward, she revealed her feisty charm by saying, "Isn't it supposed to be decided by a fight?" On another occasion, when the ward Na Seon-wook tried to decide the number two in the hierarchy, she put on a parade of aegyo and eye smiles.
Meanwhile, Shin Ki-ru was embroiled in a "fart controversy" after passing gas without the members knowing. In the small room, when Pung-ja beside Shin Ki-ru asked, "Did unni fart?" she exercised her right to remain silent but then confidently said, "Rather than farting, it leaked" and "Doesn't it smell like injeolmi?" which provoked laughter and even earned her the nickname "Bang-gwi-ru" (Fart-ru).
Afterward, Shin Ki-ru participated in a game to win release from prison. When the "Bae-bulli Tofu" game began, in which players lean forward to eat tofu placed on the floor, she found it hard even to stand up and requested Na Seon-wook's support, creating bittersweet laughter. Having loosened up her body and made thorough preparations, she perfectly performed physical gags with a trembling appearance.
After failing to eat the tofu, she said, "I think I'll be left with Jang Hoon oppa until the end," and added the cutting line, "You don't seem good at games either," showcasing a bickering sibling chemistry with Seo Jang-hoon. After failing again on her second attempt, she expressed regret saying, "I almost got it!" but it turned out she hadn't actually been close to the tofu, which provoked laughter.
The final game, "Bae-bulli Tongtong," was a game in which players hit a box to bounce a snack placed on top and eat it. Shin Ki-ru coldly looked at Na Seon-wook, who succeeded on his first try, and joked, "Boring." When her turn finally came, Shin Ki-ru captured attention with flashy warm-ups but comically failed by hitting her face on the snack. After exchanging consecutive failures, Shin Ki-ru and Seo Jang-hoon were soon drenched in sweat, and their struggle to entertain viewers amplified the fun for those watching.
Having failed to pass the games until the end, Shin Ki-ru was ultimately banished to solitary confinement. The way to escape the solitary confinement was to find and eat sundae among foods hanging from the ceiling while blindfolded. Wearing a blindfold and entering the solitary room, Shin Ki-ru smelled the cucumber in front of her and said, "Looks like a vegetable? I won't eat this," revealing a rigid preference. Rather than escaping the solitary room, she dashed for the fish cake and pickled radish she wanted to eat, making viewers burst into laughter.
In this way, Shin Ki-ru boosted the program's enjoyment with a confident yet cute charm. Her all-out efforts that brought bright smiles to viewers made people look forward to the next episode of "Bae-bulli Hills."
