BABYMONSTER released a behind-the-scenes recording video filled with passion on Oct. 19 as the group earns praise from music fans with their new song "WE GO UP."
As the song centers on a strong hip-hop vibe, it required high energy and powerful expression. Asa, the first to record, drew continuous admiration with her solid vocalization and confident rapping, yet she was not satisfied and asked to re-record, raising the track's thrill with her characteristic high tone of "WE GO UP."
Lola and Parita perfectly anchored the song with soulful tones and steady vocals, finishing their recordings with ease. Chiquita, who had been agonizing over how to deliver power, fully absorbed the direction, and Ruka showed a professional side, displaying cute charm one moment and delivering weighty rapping the next.
Ah-hyun took on her trademark ultra-high ad-lib work. At the suggestion of executive producer Yang Hyun-suk, Ah-hyun raised the key by four keys from the original and, contrary to worries, displayed explosive vocal power. In particular, the whistle section that received strong response from fans was born from Ah-hyun's idea, making listeners feel the group's further developed musical depth.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER made a comeback on Oct. 10 with mini album 2 [WE GO UP]. The album hit the top of the iTunes worldwide album chart immediately after release and reached No. 1 on the weekly Hanteo chart and Circle chart. The music video and performance video for the title track of the same name surpassed 83 million and 59 million views on YouTube, respectively.
In particular, BABYMONSTER's popularity has accelerated as they began full-scale activities. The encore stage after winning first place on "M Countdown," broadcast on Oct. 16, served as the catalyst. Their overwhelming live skills, comparable to the recorded track, have drawn attention day after day; the actual video has surpassed 1.7 million views, and momentum in domestic and international music charts is following, making future trends worth watching.
