In KBS2's 'The Boss Has Donkey Ears,' Im Chae-mu's wife Kim So-yeon captures attention by showing unfading love for her husband, who used to sleep and eat in a restroom.
KBS 2TV's 'The Boss Has Donkey Ears' (directed by Ahn Sang-eun, hereafter "The Boss") is a self-reflection program in which Korean bosses voluntarily put themselves in others' shoes to create workplaces worth working in. A representative variety show that is thriving, it recorded a peak rating of 6.9% for episode 327 and has remained No. 1 in its time slot for 176 consecutive weeks (according to Nielsen Korea).
Today's (19th) broadcast, episode 328 of 'The Boss,' features new boss Im Chae-mu, the owner of "Dooreeland," who is called "debt Chae-mu" because of debts in the 10-billion won range. Amid this, Kim So-yeon, Im Chae-mu's wife, recalls a past when she slept and ate in Dooreeland's restroom, displaying unchanged love for her husband and capturing attention.
At one point Im Chae-mu unfolds a folding bed in Dooreeland's restroom and reminisces about his newlywed life with his wife Kim So-yeon, arousing curiosity. Kim So-yeon said she felt "bashful" but revealed, "The restroom felt like a storage room, but we cooked and ate there," surprising everyone. Im Chae-mu showed his unchanged romantic side, saying, "When it was just the two of us, I didn't think of it as a restroom." Kim So-yeon then said, "I followed only you," and revealed a painful past that captured attention.
Kim So-yeon said, "My heart hurt when people insulted you," adding, "When I heard things like, 'You went on TV saying you have no money while land prices have gone up' and 'Im Chae-mu is getting conceited about money,' I would cry," choking up and drawing sympathy. But then Im Chae-mu joked, "I said I'd keep your hands from getting dirty, but I couldn't," and added, "There is a way: just buy 10 pairs of rubber gloves," provoking laughter and drawing Kim Sook's ire. Kim Sook said, "Those kinds of jokes are for people like my father," confirming herself as an incorrigible old-school person.
The image of Kim So-yeon, who knows no one but her husband Im Chae-mu, and Im Chae-mu, an incorrigible old-school lover who has unwavering faith in Kim So-yeon, will be revealed in the full broadcast of 'The Boss.'
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's 'The Boss Has Donkey Ears' airs every Sunday at 4:40 p.m.<
