"Enjoy Couple" Im Ra-ra and Son Min-su shared their daily life ahead of childbirth.
On the 19th, a new video was released on the YouTube channel "Enjoy Couple" titled "Emergency early delivery!! The crisis the day before the twin birth that drives people crazy."
On that day, Son Min-su revealed daily life 11 days before the birth, saying, "Because our baby is due the week right after the Chuseok holiday, we won't go anywhere during this Chuseok holiday and will take care of the baby," adding, "I told my mother during Chuseok, 'I won't come this holiday. Please understand.' My mother readily offered, 'Shall we come?' but I said, 'Please don't come. I'm fine,'" he said. Because of this, Son Min-su said he shopped for enough supplies to last a week.
A few days later, Im Ra-ra, with Son Min-su's help, went to the hair salon ahead of the birth. Son Min-su said, "If we don't cut it today, we won't be able to cut it after the birth, during the hospital stay, or at the postpartum care center," and Im Ra-ra explained, "I should have cut it earlier, but I couldn't because of pruritus; I was struggling and came today after taking medicine and feeling a bit better." The hair designer, seeing a full-term Im Ra-ra, was surprised, saying, "Your belly is really big."
Son Min-su set out to clean the baby car seat, and Im Ra-ra looked for the prepared hospital bag because hives suddenly worsened. Im Ra-ra said, "These hives spread all over my body overnight, even down to my legs. We called the hospital, and now it's on my belly not as stretch marks but as pruritus." The two rushed to the emergency room.
Im Ra-ra explained why they went to the emergency room rather than being admitted: "This isn't a mild, gradually appearing hive; it spread all over overnight. If it's that severe, it could be due to the liver or bile. If it's just pregnancy-related pruritus, it's because of hormones related to pregnancy or birth, but if it's a liver or bile problem, it could be dangerous for the mother and baby."
However, the two decided to move the delivery date up by two days even if it turned out to be simple pregnancy-related pruritus. Im Ra-ra said, "The hospital said there's nothing they can do. It's so itchy. I couldn't sleep at all," and although they moved the surgery date up by two days, three days still remained. Frustrated by the inability to help, Son Min-su also expressed his exasperation.
The next day, before hospitalization, Son Min-su said, "We couldn't film at all during Chuseok. Because of pregnancy-related pruritus, Ra-ra couldn't sleep at all; it got worse at night. She suffered so much that I couldn't pick up the camera and focused on caring for Ra-ra."
On the way down to be admitted, Im Ra-ra worried, "Will I be able to come back here?" and Im Ra-ra's mother also said with regret, "I feel like I gave birth to my daughter for nothing and only caused her to suffer." Son Min-su said he would bring the car and, seeing Ra-ra and her mother cry, said, "Why does my chest hurt so much?" expressing his complicated feelings.
While heading to the hospital, Im Ra-ra said, "Happiness is really relative; you shouldn't compare, but posts saying 'She endured the last month well and delivered a pretty baby' are so enviable. All mothers are pitiful. Some get preeclampsia, some have preterm births, some suffer from gestational diabetes. Some struggle with last-month morning sickness. So yesterday I prayed for help and prayed for mothers with pruritus like me."
As the surgery approached, Im Ra-ra and Son Min-su received an explanation from a nurse about possible complications after a cesarean section. In particular, when the nurse explained, "After surgery you have to lie down for a day, which can cause blood clots. If they stay put that's fine, but if they travel to the lungs or brain they can cause pulmonary embolism or cerebral infarction, which could result in disability or death," Son Min-su showed a troubled expression.
When Im Ra-ra could breathe comfortably with a respirator, she shed tears, and Son Min-su wiped her tears, showing his own, and ultimately sobbed. After completing admission procedures, Im Ra-ra smiled with satisfaction while eating hospital food and added, "Thinking about delivering tomorrow makes today's itch bearable."
Meanwhile, Enjoy Couple married in May 2023 after nine years of dating. After about two years of infertility, they announced the pregnancy and reported the birth of twin siblings, a boy and a girl, on the 14th.
