In "My Ugly Duckling," Bae Jung-nam broke down again at the sight of his dog Bell, who had been moved to the crematorium for the last time
On the 19th, SBS variety show "My Ugly Duckling" (hereafter "My Ugly Duckling") showed Bell and Bae Jung-nam saying farewell.
That day, a panorama of happy moments with Bell, Bae Jung-nam's only family, was shown in the footage. The sudden images of past days when misfortune struck also left everyone heavy-hearted. It showed that Bell had become unable to walk because of quadriplegia in the cervical spine. The times Bae Jung-nam had cared for Bell while hoping for a miracle flashed by.
After a grueling one year and seven months of training and rehabilitation, Bell miraculously found happiness again. At the time, Bae Jung-nam said, "I hope he could live a little longer like this," expressing his wish.
But that wish did not last long. Bae Jung-nam learned the news that Bell had suddenly passed away at the rehabilitation center. The cause of death was cardiac arrest. Earlier on the 29th of last month, Bae Jung-nam had posted on his personal SNS that he had to say a final goodbye to Bell because of an unexpected cardiac arrest, which saddened everyone.
Bae Jung-nam wailed, "Wake up, are you asleep," making even those watching feel heartbroken. Repeatedly, he cried, "I'm sorry, stay a little longer," and sobbed, "Bell, you worked hard."
Eventually they headed to the funeral home with Bell. Upon arriving at the funeral home, Bae Jung-nam repeatedly stroked Bell's cold body and could barely stand. Bae Jung-nam lowered his head, saying, "The emotions keep welling up. It's the hardest thing in life." The rehabilitation center director said, "Bell seemed fine in the morning," and added, "He even sunbathed, then suddenly got up, walked five steps, and abruptly collapsed," describing how Bell fell over to the side.
Before leaving for the crematorium, Bae Jung-nam looked back at the rehabilitation center filled with memories. He stared at the lawn Bell liked most and the pool where they rehabilitated together, unable to speak, and said, "Stay a little longer," unable to hide his grief. As he endlessly stroked Bell and sobbed, the Mother Avengers also shed tears.
Then Bae Jung-nam broke down again in front of the squeaky toy Bell loved. In the situation where they had to part forever, Bae Jung-nam sobbed so violently he could hardly hold himself together and decided to give Bell, who crossed the rainbow bridge, one final gift.
And finally, touching his dog one last time, Bae Jung-nam cried again. He broke down once more at Bell's final sight beyond the window because he had decided on cremation. Cruelly, Bell grew more distant from view and was eventually taken into the cremation chamber. Watching Bell being cremated, he cried out, "It's hot, what do I do, our baby is hot," sobbing and bringing everyone to tears.
