MBC 'I Live Alone' on Home Alone, Kian84 confided in close friends Kim Chung-jae and Chimchakman about worries born from wanting to do well at things he likes — painting, broadcasting and running. His candid story and efforts to regain his original intentions and rediscover joy resonated with the Rainbow members and viewers. Code Kunst showed a comical struggle to become a "planning person" by practicing a "daily schedule" with the goal of completing an album.
Also next week, with the Rainbow members all turning out for the "1st innocent autumn sports day" on I Live Alone, their competitive matchups — which even heavy rain could not stop — are expected to raise anticipation.
On the broadcast of MBC 'I Live Alone' (directed by Heo Hang, Kang Ji-hee, Kim Jin-kyung, Lee Kyung-eun, Moon Ki-young) that aired on the 17th, scenes showed Kian84 visiting close friends Kim Chung-jae and Chimchakman to confide his worries, and Code Kunst working to break free from being an "unplanned person" and become a "planning person."
According to ratings company Nielsen Korea on the 18th, the household rating for I Live Alone that aired the previous day was 5.4% in the Seoul metropolitan area, ranking first among Friday variety shows. In the key 20-49 demographic rating — a major indicator for advertisers and channel competitiveness — it was 2.9% (Seoul metropolitan area), ranking first among all Friday programs.
The top moment of the minute was when Kian84 visited Chimchakman to talk about his worries (24:07–24:08). Chimchakman, seeing Kian84 oscillate between painting and running, suggested performance art that combined his outlandish acts with art, telling him, "Paint your soles and run!" as a solution called "running painting(?)" that drew laughter. The peak rating rose to 6.5%.
Kian84 showed he was troubled because his primary work of painting was not coming together as he wanted. He confessed to a slump, saying that broadcasting, running and other activities that have become part of his life prevent him from concentrating on his main work, painting. Kian84 said, "I'm not someone who paints very well, so I should be satisfied at an appropriate level, but I try hard. With no deadlines, I try this and that, and if it's strange I scrap it," conveying a sense of helplessness that drew sympathy.
Kian84 met close friends Kim Chung-jae and Chimchakman and poured out his honest worries and stories. First, at Kim Chung-jae's studio, Kian84 searched for his original motivation in painting by doing a foundational art exercise, a "plaster cast sketch," together. As he focused on drawing, Kian84 naturally untangled complicated thoughts. He said, "Time is limited but there are many things I want to do," revealing his struggle between his main work, painting, and running, and showing how he compared his past self with his present self with difficulty. In front of Kim Chung-jae, who listened to his worries without saying much, Kian84 organized his thoughts and vowed to himself, "I need to let go of some greed now."
Kim Chung-jae is in a public relationship with actress Jung Eun-chae and that day drew attention for his preservative-like looks that shone even more.
Meanwhile, K gave sincere advice, saying, "Can't you not compare the older you with the current you? Ten years ago, when I did 'View,' it was a beautiful memory for me. But when I try to place it side by side with now, I keep getting rotten. I think I need to set up a new me that fits my current age and situation," and all the Rainbow members agreed.
Meanwhile, the conversation between Kian84 and Chimchakman showed their quick back-and-forth chemistry and drew laughs. In response to Kian84's remark that "I need to be praised," Chimchakman retorted, "Why do you have to be praised?" and Kian84 gave an awkward smile as if struck to the core by the question. Chimchakman added advice to do performance art, saying, "Your outlandish acts are cool. Why do you use brush and feet separately? Use them together," and also suggested that in painting it is important to take time to learn how to collaborate with others rather than work alone. Kian84's worries were something anyone can experience during life changes, and viewers responded that they found empathy and comfort in their stories.
Meanwhile, Code Kunst spent a day as a "planning person" to finish his album. Explaining why he made a daily schedule himself, Code Kunst said, "Originally I intended to perfectly finish the album work within this year. Album work typically takes about two years, but I'm entering the third year. I felt I might not be able to release the album within this year if things continued like this."
Code Kunst organized and executed as many as 10 household chores by time slot, from cleaning the refrigerator and preparing meals to cleaning the vivarium for a newly adopted pet lizard, assembling a cat tower, washing cat blankets and tidying the living room sofa. But he became increasingly pressed for time, and household tasks piled up in an instant, leaving the house in disarray and prompting laughter.
While cleaning the pet lizard's home, Code Kunst was truly flustered by an unexpected plant delivery, producing uproarious laughter. In the end, using his alarm as a work song, he tidied the house as he wished. As time went on, his gaunt appearance drew attention.
Finally heading to the studio, Code Kunst immersed himself in music work even while eating. He said, "I finished three songs that day. I just finished a song I made six months ago. Still, I felt my concentration improving," expressing satisfaction. He added, "It feels like when I first encountered multigrain rice. I know it's not tasty, but it's good for the body," and said, "In the past I moved without setting times, but now I plan my time in detail and move accordingly," describing his changed lifestyle.
