Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant's Son Yeon-jae revealed the love story with her husband, who is 9 years older, and disclosed plans for a second child.
On Oct. 17, KBS 2TV variety show Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant (hereafter "Fun-Staurant") featured Son Yeon-jae, who continued from the previous episode and drew attention by revealing her marriage story.
That day Son Yeon-jae met friends after finishing a class at the rhythmic gymnastics studio she has run for six years. Among her friends was the matchmaker who introduced Son Yeon-jae to her husband, which drew attention.
While the friends were tasting Son Yeon-jae's cooking, they praised the "young radish kimchi mackerel stew," saying, "I think your husband will like this." In response, Son Yeon-jae said, "My husband really likes mackerel kimchi stew. I didn't used to eat Korean food, right? After we married, my husband ate Korean food three times a day, so at first I said, 'I won't eat it,' but my husband ate it so deliciously. As I ate with him, my taste changed."
Most of all, that day Son Yeon-jae revealed the full story of her marriage. She opened up, "She just said, 'He's a really good person. Meet him,' and my husband said his sister told him to meet me unconditionally."
The matchmaker said, "Yeon-jae is a younger sister I like, and my husband and he are very close as senior and junior. He treats me so well and is good to our son, so I thought, 'I hope that older brother marries a good woman.'" Hearing this, Son Yeon-jae responded, "Thank you."
The matchmaker said she introduced them partly because Son Yeon-jae's and her husband's homes were close. Son Yeon-jae recalled, "My husband and I kept teasing each other. I couldn't be proactive, and he also wasn't somehow proactive, but my sister said, 'You two contact each other quickly and meet again.'" The matchmaker added, "So the next day I contacted him (Son Yeon-jae's husband) and asked, 'Did you contact her?' and he said he hadn't. I said, 'Why didn't you? Seriously?'" which made people laugh.
Boom asked, "Did your husband really not contact you?" Son Yeon-jae confessed, "My husband thought I was a bit young. He wondered whether I had no intention of marrying. He said he was worried. I waited for him to contact me."
After dating for a year, Son Yeon-jae decided to marry, saying, "From the start I somehow felt that we could get married," and added that once she gained her husband's conviction, things moved quickly.
Meanwhile, Son Yeon-jae admitted that she and her husband fought over childrearing. She said, "After three years it's quite different, but definitely after the baby was born we fight more. My husband helps so much that it causes fights," and added, "He is really proactive in helping with childcare. But he's somewhat of a perfectionist, and that part was difficult."
Still, she said, "Now we adjust well and are comfortable and having fun. After having the baby I feel I have matured."
When asked, "When are you thinking about a second child?" Son Yeon-jae answered, "Originally I thought about this year or next year, but after raising one child, I increasingly think realistically that having one more might be good."
She particularly declared, "I'm an only child and being an only child won't do. Children should have two. I'm going to have a second child," drawing attention. She explained, "There are many times you feel lonely later. You don't know when you're young, but when you get married you envy friends who have brothers and sisters."
When friends guessed, "Will the second be a son or a daughter?" Son Yeon-jae showed earnest desire, saying, "If it's a daughter I will really cry. I'll be so happy."
