The highlight video for "Perfect Glow" has been released. Anticipation is rising for the New York Manhattan conquest of K-Beauty masters Rami-ran, Park Min-young, Joo Jong-hyuk, Cha Hong, Leo J, and Pony, who will spread the charm of K-beauty worldwide.
The new tvN variety show Perfect Glow, directed by Kim Sang-a and Kwak Ji-hye, set to premiere Nov. 8, is a "K-beauty New York conquest" in which Director General Rami-ran and Deputy Minister Park Min-young lead South Korea's top hair and makeup experts to open a Korean-style beauty shop called "Director General (DANJANG)" in Manhattan and showcase the true face of K-beauty directly on site. With K-beauty drawing attention in the U.S. following K-pop and K-food, the program is expected to let viewers feel K-beauty's global popularity firsthand.
On the 17th, Perfect Glow released a 12-minute highlight video. The released footage opens with the confident presence of the K-beauty masters who landed in New York to promote K-beauty and set up a Korean-style beauty shop on 36th Street in Manhattan. Hair designer Cha Hong, the first Asian selected as a L'Oréal Professionnel artist; Leo J, a representative MZ beauty creator who dominates both online and offline; and Pony, a world-class makeup artist who ranks first on YouTube in the makeup category, stand out for their presence. Also joining the crew running Director General are Rami-ran, whose leadership shows a different depth; Park Min-young, the counseling head with exceptional beauty sensibility honed through a long acting career; and Joo Jong-hyuk, a study-abroad-trained, multi-talented assistant manager with plenty of sense.
Also, the perfect team play of the "Director Generals," reminiscent of "professors' group projects," raises expectations for the main broadcast. Rami-ran greets customers who visit Director General first, wearing an array of outfits full of Korean color, taking care of even the unpleasant tasks and raising customer satisfaction to 100%. Park Min-young captivates customers with perfect consultations filled with beauty tips she learned from her acting career, as well as fluent English. With her flawless visuals she draws New Yorkers' attention, and she is at a loss for words when a customer compliments, "Your looks are perfect, like AI."
The beloved youngest of Director General, Leo J, injects energy into the beauty shop with unique tension while maintaining professional focus when on the job, drawing warm smiles. As a global star verified by customers, Pony presents point makeup that shows the subtle difference. When customers confess beauty concerns, Pony coolly reassures them, "Don't worry at all," exploding with chic charm. The joint makeup by Pony and Leo J, which can be seen only at Director General, further raises expectations.
Cha Hong and Joo Jong-hyuk solidly guard the "hair zone." Cha Hong disarms viewers with the image of a "praise fairy" who compliments customers using Korean, body language and English all together. Joo Jong-hyuk, the "shampoo guy" who learned to shampoo for Director General, shows neat skills and outstanding sense that are hard to believe come from a beginner. Cha Hong says she would have scouted him if she had known he would go into beauty, dubbing him her top protégé. The fantastic chemistry of Cha Hong and Joo Jong-hyuk, who "know" each other's moves, raises expectations for the hair zone's performance.
A path of roses is not guaranteed at Director General. Unexpected incidents and accidents also follow. In particular, amid a race against the clock, Pony shouts, "This is chaos!", heightening curiosity about the variety of stories that will pour out at Director General.
Meanwhile, the end of the highlight video features honest reviews from customers who visited Director General, adding interest. Customers who experienced the essence of "Korea glow up (KOREA GLOW UP)" at Director General gave candid feedback such as "I feel reborn," "I've never felt this emotion before," and "If you don't like yourself, no matter how much you wear makeup or dress up, inner anxiety remains. The reason I'm drawn to K-beauty is that it brings out inner beauty." The K-beauty masters themselves are deeply moved by customers' stories, their eyes reddening and creating a touching afterglow.
Excitement is building for the main broadcast of Perfect Glow, where K-beauty masters who poured all of South Korea's beauty skills and sincerity into their work will present a magical time.
The strike of K-beauty set to take New York by storm, the new tvN variety show Perfect Glow, is scheduled to premiere at 10:50 p.m. on Nov. 8.
