Choi Hwajeong explained why she did not register copyright for her famous saying, warming hearts.
On the afternoon of the 16th, a video titled "Choi Hwajeong reveals Korea's No. 1 pizza she found by standing in line (first reveal) (+date spot, Lee Seo-jin)" was released on the YouTube channel "Hello, this is Choi Hwajeong."
When the production team mentioned that Choi Hwajeong's famous phrase "If it's delicious, 0 calories" had been used in several advertisements, Choi Hwajeong empathized, saying "Exactly."
Regarding copyright registration, Choi Hwajeong said, "I haven't registered the copyright. But that requires some kind of review and it costs a lot of money. (If you register copyright) it's 70 years after the creator's death," explaining and referring to the complicated procedures.
In particular, regarding the situation where the phrase is being widely used on aprons, spoon wrappers and other items at restaurants and similar shops, Choi Hwajeong shook her head and said, "(Copyright fees are) collecting usage fees individually from restaurants and places like that," and that she did not want to go that far even toward self-employed people. This showed Choi Hwajeong's warm heart in considering small business owners who make a living using her saying.
