Actor Clara (40, Lee Sung-min) announced her divorce after six years of marriage.
On the 17th, Clara's agency KHS Agency said, "Clara completed an uncontested divorce in Aug." and "After careful discussions with her spouse over a long period, she reached this conclusion."
It added, "Although the uncontested divorce was finalized in Aug., we delayed sharing the news because it was necessary to deeply consider both families' positions and seek mutual understanding," and "We ask for your continued interest and encouragement for Clara's efforts as an actor going forward."
Through her agency, Clara said, "I feel sorry to deliver unfortunate news to the many people who have supported me."
Clara held a private wedding in the United States in 2019 with Samuel Hwang, a Korean American businessman two years her senior, but announced the breakup after six years. Samuel Hwang is known to have achieved major success in the education business in China, then established a financial company in Hong Kong and invested in startups.
The two set up their newlywed home in Songpa District, Seoul, and it drew attention at the time when it was reported that the purchase price was about 8.1 billion won.
Clara is the daughter of Lee Seung-gyu, a member of the group Koreana. She debuted in the entertainment industry in 2006 with the drama "Invisible Man Choi Jang-soo." She later appeared in dramas such as "Creating Destiny," "Goddess of Marriage," and "Emergency Couple," as well as the films "Five Senses of Eros" and "Working Girl." She is currently active in Korea and China.
