A former virtual couple on the show 'We Got Married,' T-ara alum and actress Ham Eun-jeong and actor Lee Jang-woo have drawn attention by announcing they are getting married in the same month. The two, who received much love for their fresh chemistry on 'We Got Married' about 10 years ago, are now preparing for real marriages from their respective places.
Earlier in August, Ham Eun-jeong, who appeared on the YouTube channel "가장(멋진)류진," had an honest talk about appearance fees and marriage with actors Ryu Jin and Park Tam-hee. At the time, when Ryu Jin asked, "What marriage life can people who haven't even been married have on 'We Got Married'?" Ham Eun-jeong laughed and recalled, "It felt like the early newlywed feeling." At the time, Ham Eun-jeong had appeared as a virtual couple with actor Lee Jang-woo. Above all, it was a topic of conversation because they were also alumni from the department of theater and film.
But she added, "I deliberately didn't meet 'oppa Lee Jang-woo' privately. The relationship inside the program felt real, and I wanted to preserve that feeling," and said, "I didn't even say things like 'good job.' That was a way of respecting the character." Ham Eun-jeong honestly confessed, "I've heard there are couples who actually develop romantic feelings, but when I started filming, I really had no one."
And just two months later, Ham Eun-jeong announced her actual marriage. On Nov. 30, she will marry film director Kim Byung-woo. According to OSEN reporting, the two met through a gathering of acquaintances in the film industry, developed into a romantic relationship, and the wedding will be held privately with only close family and friends from both families invited.
Ham Eun-jeong's side said, "The groom-to-be is a non-celebrity, and they have a relationship of deep understanding and respect," and added, "Actress Ham Eun-jeong plans to continue active work after marriage." Regarding allegations of pregnancy before marriage, they said it was "groundless" and explained that they hurried the wedding because both families hoped not to carry it into next year.
Ham Eun-jeong also wrote on social media the same day that after losing the mother who seemed like she would protect her for life a year ago, she wanted to build a warm family like her mother, and she expressed sincerity, saying, "This is someone who respects my work more than anyone. I will live well and beautifully with effort."
Interestingly, Lee Jang-woo, who was the virtual husband on 'We Got Married,' is also getting married in the same month. Lee Jang-woo will hold his wedding with actress Jo Hye-won on Nov. 23. The two met and grew their love through the 2019 KBS2 drama 'My Only One' and, overcoming an 8-year age gap, are getting married after seven years of dating.
Netizens reacted warmly to the news that the two, who were much loved as a 'We Got Married' couple, are each preparing new beginnings with different partners, saying, "It's the real-life 'We Got Married' ending," "It's amazing that they're marrying in the same month," "I hope they each meet their perfect match and are happy," and "I wish both build beautiful families."
