Travel YouTuber Chaekoje became a father.
On the 15th a video titled "The day I became a dad." was uploaded to Chaekoje's channel.
That day Chaekoje filmed his wife's childbirth process as a vlog. Ahead of the due date he said, "Watching my wife prepare for childbirth like this and spending time beside her, my wife is so exhausted and worked so hard, and childbirth really isn't easy. Seeing her body change is something you can only watch from the side, and that feeling is very frustrating. There's that. Truly all parents are great. I think the mothers and fathers of this Republic of Korea are great," he said, sharing his honest feelings.
When the day of delivery arrived, his wife said, "I can't believe it. My little one is coming out of my belly now." Chaekoje said, "A new family is being formed," and his wife asked, "How fun will it be? How do you feel? Are you nervous?" Chaekoje replied, "It's just the same. I hope you don't hurt, honey," and added, "I hope it hurts just a little," he admitted.
Afterward, the two were admitted to the hospital for delivery, and his wife wept, saying, "I wrote a letter to oppa. Read it when I go for surgery later." Chaekoje comforted her, saying, "Isn't that a letter I should write? What if I cry?"
He then said, as his wife went to the delivery room, "My heart really feels strange. It feels like my feet are stuck to the floor and the feeling is odd," conveying mixed emotions. After reading the letter his wife had written and becoming teary-eyed, he said, "They say spinal anesthesia is done two or three times, but if it works at once it will hurt less. Maybe my wife went smiling to make it easier for me, but she must be very scared. I've always said becoming a father was my dream. I've waited a long time for this moment, and I'm so nervous."
After some time, he received news that the delivery went well, and Chaekoje breathed a huge sigh of relief, saying, "You worked so hard, really." He rejoiced, "I finally became a father," and seeing his newborn son Rium, he marveled, "He's so pretty. He's so small, though."
But when his wife, who had just given birth, cried out "It hurts," he also burst into tears, saying, "You did well." He recounted the incident, saying, "Earlier I heard 'oppa' as 'it hurts' and tears welled up. I was so surprised. My wife was crying and said 'it hurts,'" describing the episode.
Along with this, Chaekoje posted on his YouTube community, "I received the greatest gift of my life. I think this is a blessing many people helped create, and I will raise the child well. Thank you so much," expressing his feelings. He also posted on his social media, "Welcome to the sea called the world. Let's row together with excitement, son. I will be your strong ship," and shared photos with Rium, adding to the poignancy.
Meanwhile, Chaekoje married a flight attendant 11 years his junior in February.
