It was belatedly made known that actor Park Sang-jo died after battling lung cancer. He was 80.
According to the bereaved family on the 16th, Park Sang-jo died of lung cancer around 2 p.m. on 4th while hospitalized at a hospital in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in Aug. last year and underwent chemotherapy, but his condition reportedly worsened rapidly in Sept. this year.
Born in 1945, he graduated from Chung-Ang University's Department of Theater and Film and joined the first open recruitment class of MBC talent in 1969. He later appeared in works such as "Country Diary," "Three Families Under One Roof," "Sandglass," "Tears of the Dragon," "Taejo Wang Geon," "Jang Hee-bin," "Secret Royal Inspector Park Mun-su," "The Great King, Sejong," and "Taejong Yi Bang-won."
