Singer Park Nam-jung shared his candid view on smoking.
Park Nam-jung appeared on a YouTube channel with his daughter and shared his thoughts on health management and smoking.
Park Nam-jung, saying he really dislikes getting a belly, noted, "That's how I'm built. I think I've paid attention to my waist size since I was 20," referencing strict self-management. His daughter Si-eun said, "Because I started doing broadcast work at a young age, I started dieting a bit earlier and it took a long time to find a method that suited me. Now dieting matters, but I think health is more important," adding, "I don't put restrictions on what I want to eat, but I've set a habit of eating small amounts more often or doing it that way." Park responded, "Everyone in our family is like that."
To a question about "smoking," he said, "I set specific days to smoke. Every Wednesday afternoon." He added, "I don't know what others might think, but I consider cigarettes essential in life," and, "To clear stray thoughts, I occasionally do it as a matter of management."
When asked what he would do if his daughter Si-eun smoked, he said, "Even if my daughter smokes, I won't encourage it, but I won't stop her," adding, "If stress builds up and breaks you, that's even worse. If it helps her life, I won't stop her." Si-eun said, "Since I was young, my dad told me, 'Whether you drink or smoke, do it at home,'" but added, "That said, I have no intention of smoking."
Park Nam-jung married model-turned Heo Eun-ju in 1999 and they have two daughters.
