Minsuhyun properly showed the "underdog rebellion."
On the 14th broadcast of SBS music audition "Our Ballad," the second round of the finals was held.
Sixteen-year-old contestant singer Jo Su-ah and Minsuhyun, who carries on his father's dream, faced off.
Jo Su-ah selected Jo Su-mi's "If I Go." Everyone was left speechless by the clean yet explosive high notes. When the song ended, praise poured out saying "Daesuah." Kwon Jin-ah said she was amazed, noting, "It should feel like your throat is bleeding, but she sang it steadily." Danny Koo said, "I listened to how Jo Su-mi performs it, but I can't recall that version. The steadiness is tremendous," he commented.
Jung Jae-hyung said, "In classical competitions there is sometimes a designated piece. It is very traditional and has a definite structure; they include it to hear an interpretation of such a piece. I thought Su-ah might create that. She does that very well. It was a perfect stage." Cha Tae-hyun said, "I didn't give a vote in the first round. She was so good I couldn't feel her humanity; she seemed like AI. She picked the song well. The song itself is stylish, so even though she sang like AI, it didn't feel like that. It's just so cool."
Minsuhyun chose Im Chang-jung's "A Glass of Soju." Jung Jae-hyung said, "Many people also like 'If I Go.' This choice is excellent too." Jun Hyun-moo asked, "Because of your father's influence, do you like male vocal songs?" and Minsuhyun said, "This song is also one my father sang a lot at karaoke. I want to finish safely borrowing my father's strength."
When Minsuhyun's song ended, a standing ovation followed. Cha Tae-hyun said, "It was exactly 100 votes. I almost didn't make it here. But the fact a standing ovation came out means (it's amazing). It feels like when Lee Sedol defeated AlphaGo. It's so shocking. I couldn't think of Chang-jung at all," he said.
Jun Hyun-moo said, "In the original song the build-up is clear. As you drink glass by glass, at 'Hello' it blasts off. Our Su-hyun's song soaks in glass by glass and ends with a pleasant drunkenness and tears," he said.
Jung Jae-hyung praised, "I kept crying. I didn't know it was such a sad song. My lower chest ached. There's an expression 'pierces the lungs,' isn't there? It felt like a song for me." Jung Jae-hyung even wrote "Kwon Jin-ah" on his judging sheet.
Finally, the time for the result announcement. Faced with the reality that someone had to be eliminated, everyone began to deny reality. Minsuhyun boasted an astounding vote count exceeding 100 votes and won. Minsuhyun comforted Jo Su-ah, saying, "I want to tell Su-ah she worked so hard."
