KARA singer and actress Kang Ji-young mentioned the 12-year-old "aegyo" incident.
On the 15th episode of MBC variety show "Radio Star," Kang Ji-young appeared on "RAS" for the first time in 12 years. Kang Ji-young, who was added to KARA as a midline member, debuted with Goo Hara and signaled a huge success in entering the Japanese market. Kang Ji-young, who was 19 at the time, was embarrassed by the "Radio Star" hosts' requests for aegyo and burst into tears.
Kang Ji-young said instead, "At that time it was also a transitional period for KARA, I was sensitive because of contract issues, I have a lot to say but my head felt big then," and "At the time I said, 'I can't do that,'" explaining that it happened because she was arrogant.
Kang Ji-young said, "After that I wondered what aegyo was to make me suffer, so I studied it," and showed the aegyo she had prepared. While listening to Kang Ji-young's filmography as she solidified her position as an actress in Japan, Kim Gu-ra quickly asked, "Don't they make you do aegyo in Japan?"
Kang Ji-young responded, "In Japan they actually don't make you do rude things," and began to say, "I'm sorry," before covering her mouth. Kim Gu-ra said, "Didn't we loosen up?" adding, "Japan is the originator of rude behavior," sounding quite hurt, and Kang Ji-young said, "On Japanese variety shows, if MCs like you they hit you," which made Kim Gu-ra feel wronged.
