(Follow-up to interview ①) Actor Rowoon shared his thoughts ahead of his military enlistment.
On the 15th, an interview with Rowoon, one of the lead actors of the Disney+ original series "The Murky Stream", was held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno District, Seoul.
Rowoon, who had originally been scheduled to enlist on Jul. 21, received a reexamination (grade 7) at the physical examination for enlistment, underwent a reexamination in early Aug., and is scheduled to begin active duty on the 27th.
Regarding this, Rowoon said "Now, my military service was postponed once. I already did everything I would have done before. I met everyone. I finished all the promotions. This is a blessing, but at that time I met friends and drank, went on trips with my parents. I did the salute, shaved my head and took a photo shoot. But since I didn't go, it's embarrassing," he said, drawing laughter.
He continued, "So now I want to go quickly. I'll be discharged in '27, but I'm already thinking about the discharge day. I want to work right away when I come back," he confessed.
He added, "A senior told me, not just that I gained weight, but 'you've really put on weight.' I was so shocked and said, 'Brother, won't I be embarrassed going to the military!' but I still lost weight. Photos circulate when you go to the military, right? I worried it might be captioned 'the body relaxed after going to the military,'" he said, adding to the laughter.
In particular, regarding the genre he wants to try after discharge, he said, "I want to wear a school uniform again. As long as I manage well, won't it be fine? I will really buy 20 tubes of cleansing foam to take. Short hair made me look younger, people said. I recently had my ID checked three times," he joked.
He went on, "It's a playful ambition, and regardless of genre, I plan to work without resting. I want to do romantic comedies again. I want to do films too. I'll do everything. I won't rest," and added, "They say the moment questions in life disappear is when you get old. The eyes can't lie, and I think my eyes are clear. Everything is fascinating and fun to me. I think I'll continue to view things from this perspective, and that part will probably be the same after I discharge."
Meanwhile, "The Murky Stream" (directed by Choo Chang-min / written by Cheon Seong-il) is a destiny-pioneering action drama that takes place on Gyeonggang, where all of Joseon's money and goods gather, and tells the stories of people who dream different dreams to set right a corrupt world and live like humans. The final episode will be released on the 17th.
