Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu candidly shared his feelings about the drug-driving controversy.
On the 15th episode of tvN STORY's "What's the point of leaving it?", the appearance of Lee Kyung-kyu as the MCs' "matseonja" was shown.
That day Lee Kyung-kyu first mentioned the drug-driving controversy, surprising the MCs. Lee Young-ja said, "Our juniors were so shocked when they heard about it. I thought something had gone wrong with oppa, that oppa might collapse from pain," expressing her concern.
Lee Kyung-kyu said, "I realized I could think about death as I lived. It was very serious. It's better now because time has passed, but the trauma lasted a very long time," he confessed.
He continued, "I used to make that joke a lot. 'If you avoid the police box, the police station will come out.' I went to the police box and the police station. Didn't I stand on the photo line too?" and added, "There is nothing you can do about sudden misfortune that barges in." Hearing this, Lee Young-ja even showed tears.
Also, regarding his feelings at the time, Lee Kyung-kyu said, "Once, while filming with a junior, they asked me, 'Do you also suffer when you see malicious comments?' What I said was, 'Most people in the world don't care about you. Don't take it to heart.' But when it happened to me, it wasn't that. It felt like everyone in the world was staring only at me."
He joked, "I was doing so many programs back then. I did all the news programs. There was nowhere I hadn't appeared. I wasn't getting any money, but I did 20 programs a week. It was the peak of my career," and added, "I agonized a lot about whether to talk about this or not when coming on this program. But I thought it might be hard for you to ask, so I spoke first."
In response to Kim Sook's question, "Are you okay healthwise?", Lee Kyung-kyu answered, "I'm fine. I've become much kinder since that incident," drawing laughter.
