Actress Song Ok-sook expressed discomfort with young people's preference for remaining unmarried.
On the 15th, a new video was released on the YouTube channel "Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life" titled "Actress Song Ok-sook Episode 5 (A life matured further while raising three children)."
That day, Song Seung-hwan asked Song Ok-sook, "Are the children growing well? There remains the matter of marrying them off," and Song Ok-sook replied, "They must be married off."
Song Ok-sook said, "I strongly gaslight them. Even if the world collapses tomorrow, I'm the type who says let's plant an apple tree," adding, "I feel very uncomfortable with the fact that young people do not want to get married."
She continued, "We may think we succeeded because of our own merits and that our parents raised us, but it was the nation, society, the state and everyone around who raised me. It's as if we owe a debt, yet saying, 'You're suffering, so live alone'—I don't want parents to say that."
She went on to say, "I hope people form healthy families and, if they can, have many children and live that way. That's why I do a lot of gaslighting."
Meanwhile, Song Ok-sook married a U.S. service member stationed in Korea in 1986 and divorced after 11 years. She later remarried Lee Jong-in, the head of Alpha Diving Technology, a diving expert. Lee Jong-in is well known as the developer of the "diving bell" used in search operations during the Sewol ferry disaster in 2014.
