(continued from interview ②) Actor Park Seo-ham talked about the "tear button."
On the 15th, an interview with Park Seo-ham, a lead actor in the Disney+ original series "The Murky Stream," was held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno District, Seoul.
"The Murky Stream" (directed by Chu Chang-min / written by Chun Sung-il) is a destiny-forging action drama that tells the stories of people who dreamed different dreams to set right a corrupt world and live like human beings, set on the Gyeonggang, where all Joseon's money and goods gather.
In "The Murky Stream," Park Seo-ham plays Jeongcheon, a clerk newly assigned to the Podocheong after achieving top honors in the martial examination with outstanding martial skills, and he also spoke about the difficulties of acting.
He said, "Going to the set, I realized my shortcomings and had a tough time. Each time that happened, we talked a lot. The director would always take a one-hour walk. We had those conversations, and I received a lot of help from the other actors. I really kept getting choked up. Even at the Bucheon International Film Festival, I would get teary just seeing the director's face."
He added, "Honestly, I got choked up even just now. 'The Murky Stream,' the director, Rowoon, Ye-eun, and the seniors are the tear button. I think I am that grateful. Because they were there, I think I was able to complete it," expressing his gratitude.
He recalled a moment on the "The Murky Stream" set when he got choked up. Park Seo-ham said, "On the first day of shooting, I cried. Why did I cry? The first shoot was an action scene. Rowoon must have sensed how exhausted I was. Rowoon said, 'Shall we grab a beer after this?' We finished around 3 a.m., and we sat on a convenience store terrace as the sun slowly rose. Rowoon said, 'Hyung, I think you're the only one who knows Jeongcheon. So let's do it confidently and bravely.' I got choked up and cried at the lodging."
He said, "I thought I would cry a lot on the last day of shooting, but I didn't on set. It was a very fast-paced scene. But tears came in the car, so I took a photo. I wanted to leave something behind. A precious work." He added, "I even sent this selfie to fans. When I think about why I cried then, it seems it was because of the staff, the director, the writer, and the actors of 'The Murky Stream,'" conveying his affection.
He also talked about a recent moment of tears. Park Seo-ham said, "It was at the Bucheon International Film Festival. It was my first time doing a GV. It had been a while since I did an interview like that. I was very nervous at the Bucheon International Film Festival. Ye-eun cheered me on; wasn't it so warm? So I cried. At the wrap party when I got choked up, many seniors came up to me. They said they cried when they saw me get choked up, and it was so warm that I cried again," he said, drawing attention.
