Actor Kim Rae-won will appear in SBS's new baseball drama "Full Count" (working title).
On the afternoon of the 14th, OSEN reported that Kim Rae-won received the script for "Full Count," which is being considered for SBS scheduling, and after reviewing it positively, he has settled on appearing in it.
"Full Count," to be produced in 12 episodes, depicts the coach competition in the world of men's professional baseball. Director Park Myung-rang, who wrote and directed the film "The Ethics of Anger," will write the script, and director Ham Jun-ho of "Love Scout" will direct. TPS Company and Betty & Creators will co-produce.
Kim Rae-won plays Hwang Jin-ho, the Stars' coach and acting manager. He started playing baseball in the fourth grade of elementary school, made it onto the national team's preliminary roster but never wore the national team uniform. As a player he was second-rate, but as a coach he lived a 1.5-rate life, and his evaluation as a coach is much better than during his playing days.
In the past, SBS presented the well-made hit "Stove League," which ended in February 2020 and drew great attention by achieving a peak rating of 19.1%. It captivated viewers who did not know baseball and is still talked about by drama fans, leading to demands for a season 2.
After five years, a boom in baseball sports dramas is taking place in broadcasting. Expectations rose as Han Hyo-joo chose "Your Ground" (a youth romance in which a baseball player meets an agent who is a former lawyer and begins a journey to return to the ground) and Kim Woo-bin chose tvN's "Gift" (the story of a professional team baseball coach who gains extraordinary abilities after an unexpected accident and is appointed as the manager of amateur last-place team Deokcheon High School), among others. With Kim Rae-won also appearing in "Full Count," interest is focused on what he will show.
"Full Count" is scheduled to begin principal photography early next year.
