"Netflix's 'Today Korea TOP10 series' lands at No. 7! Riding an upward trend!"
MBN's First Lady's Yujin and Ji Hyun-woo explode with poignant affection rooted in steadfast love and trust for each other, proving their pre-divorce "woohaengsi" with a tearful embrace.
MBN's Wednesday-Thursday miniseries First Lady (writer Kim Hyeong-wan, director Lee Ho-hyun, produced by Studio Gidam Co., Artist Studio, Roadshow Plus Co.) mesmerizes viewers with a gripping, immersive portrayal of an unprecedented divorce scandal in which a husband elected president demands a divorce from the wife who will soon become first lady.
In particular, First Lady proved its solid popularity by landing at No. 7 on Netflix's "Today Korea TOP 10 series" category as of Oct. 12 on FlixPatrol, a site that aggregates content viewership rankings across global OTT platforms. Also, it demonstrated continued buzz by ranking No. 8 in the first week of Oct. in "drama TV-OTT search response" and having "First Lady characters" reach No. 6 in the "drama search issue keywords," according to TV buzz analysis firm Good Data Corporation.
In the last broadcast, Cha Soo-yeon (played by Yujin) was shown reeling in shock when Hyun Min-chul (played by Ji Hyun-woo) learned of the huge secret she had long kept. In particular, tension rose with an "extremely shocking ending" as Cha Soo-yeon, having raised an infidelity issue in her divorce suit with Hyun Min-chul, learned to her horror of the suspicious Lee Hwa-jin's (played by Han Su-a) pregnancy.
In the related episode 7 of First Lady airing on Wednesday the 15th, Yujin and Ji Hyun-woo show a tearful healing hug that reveals the couple's strong affection as they comfort each other's wounds. The scene shows Cha Soo-yeon and Hyun Min-chul during their newlywed days, with Hyun Min-chul gently meeting Cha Soo-yeon's gaze and speaking to her as she wears a bewildered expression. Cha Soo-yeon murmurs the worries she had buried deep in her heart, and Hyun Min-chul offers heavy comfort along with a subtle smile. As Cha Soo-yeon finally bursts into sobs and Hyun Min-chul holds her in his arms while patting her, viewers' curiosity soars over why the couple shared a "sincere tearful embrace" in those days.
Meanwhile, Yujin and Ji Hyun-woo delivered climactic performances that properly elevated the emotional line through a poignant two-shot showing their intense marital chemistry. Yujin expressed a range of emotions—fear, guilt and maternal love—deeply embedded in every teardrop with delicate acting, completing a "prism of emotion." Ji Hyun-woo, with his characteristic calm tone, densely portrayed Hyun Min-chul's humane qualities of fully embracing and soothing Cha Soo-yeon's confusion, worry and fear. Their emotional acting, from heart-stopping tears to touching consolation, drew admiration for their perfect chemistry.
The production team said, "This scene is where Yujin and Ji Hyun-woo, who are now engaged in full-scale political warfare, recall a tender moment from their newlywed days," and added, "Check the broadcast to see what foreshadowing this scene in episode 7 will hint at and to witness the couple's poignant and happy moments."
Meanwhile, MBN's Wednesday-Thursday miniseries First Lady episode 7 will air at 10:20 p.m. on the 15th (Wednesday).
