Actor Joo In-young showed a surprising charm in "Genie, Make A Wish."
Released on the 3rd, the Netflix series "Genie, Make A Wish" is a stress-free fantasy romantic comedy about a career-interrupted lamp spirit genie (Kim Woo-bin) who wakes after about a thousand years and meets an emotionless person, Ga-young (Suzy), leading to three wishes.
Joo In-young plays Hyeon-jeong, who runs a strawberry farm in "Genie, Make A Wish," bringing vitality to the story. Wearing a red work vest and arm sleeves and even speaking in a hearty dialect, Hyeon-jeong appears in perfect rural style, capturing attention. She realistically portrays a genuine married couple, blushing at her husband Park Chang-sik's (Yang Hyun-min) affection and struggling to hold back laughter, creating empathy.
However, the mood changed abruptly when the twist that Hyeon-jeong is a former Marine noncommissioned officer was revealed. Normally a farm owner with an innocent smile, in scenes where she steps in during Ga-young's crisis, Joo In-young overwhelmed viewers with a steely gaze and charisma while delivering intense action performances.
Joo In-young, who has been active in both drama and film, perfectly handled realistic everyday acting as well as flashy action through "Genie, Make A Wish." <
