SBS's new Fri.-Sat. drama 'Taxi Driver 3' returns once again as a full ensemble. The script reading scene that gathered the "Rainbow Five" Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin and Bae Yoo-ram in one place has been released, sending expectations soaring.
The new SBS Fri.-Sat. drama 'Taxi Driver 3', which premieres on Nov. 21 (Fri) (written by Oh Sang-ho / directed by Kang Bo-seung / produced by Studio S, Group Eight, BA Entertainment), is a series based on the webtoon of the same name. It centers on the secretive taxi company Rainbow Transport and taxi driver Kim Do-gi, who carry out private retribution on behalf of wronged victims. The "Taxi Driver" series not only ranked fifth (21%) among all domestic terrestrial and cable dramas aired since 2023 in viewership, but also won the best drama series award at the 28th Asian Television Awards (ATA), the region's most prestigious media awards last year, earning it recognition as a mega-hit IP and a successful example of a Korean-style seasonal drama.
Meanwhile, the script reading for 'Taxi Driver 3' was released and drew attention. The event was attended by writer Oh Sang-ho, who built the solid universe of the "Taxi Driver" series; director Kang Bo-seung, who was assistant director on "Taxi Driver" season 1 and co-directed "Dr. Romantic 3"; and a strong production team, as well as the main cast including the full "Rainbow Five" ensemble: Lee Je-hoon (as Kim Do-gi), Kim Eui-sung (as Chairman Jang), Pyo Ye-jin (as Ko Eun), Jang Hyuk-jin (as Chief Choi) and Bae Yoo-ram (as Assistant Park), who energetically kicked off season 3.
As it was the first script reading in two years, the venue was filled with intense energy. In particular, from the very start of the reading, Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin and Bae Yoo-ram produced perfect banter with just a line or a look, announcing the welcome return of the "Rainbow Five." Moreover, their teamwork, perfected over every season, amplified the variety-style fun, and their more evolved secondary-character performances drew attention, captivating those present. Viewers are already eager to see what their richer synergy will look like and the thrilling excitement the "Rainbow Five" will deliver.
The script reading also proceeded in a special format in which director Kang Bo-seung shared storyboards he drew himself while actors layered their lines on top, delivering intense immersion. In this process, the "Taxi Driver" series' refreshing tough-love lessons and catharsis of delivering justice, as well as explosive action scenes, were vividly realized before viewers' eyes, foreshadowing an upgraded scale. At the same time, spectacular villains who will be the targets of the "Rainbow Five" revealed a heavy presence, suggesting the birth of an all-time great season that will send viewers' dopamine into overdrive this year-end.
Meanwhile, Lee Je-hoon expressed, "I am so grateful and happy to be able to do season 3. I am proud of our member who feel like family," and added, "I think we can show a story even more intense than previous seasons. I'm also preparing my increasingly diverse secondary characters hard. I really want to show them to viewers soon. Please look forward to the exploits of Kim Do-gi and the Rainbow Transport team," heightening anticipation for the return of "Taxi Driver 3."
Selected as a production support work by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Communications Agency (KCA) in 2025, the new SBS Fri.-Sat. drama "Taxi Driver 3" is scheduled to premiere on Nov. 21 (Fri). In addition, "Taxi Driver 3" will be available in Asia, the Middle East and Africa on Viu, Asia's largest regional OTT platform.
