Actor Park Hee-soon shared his thoughts on finishing The Confidence Man KR.
Park Hee-soon played James, a master of disguise and the mental pillar of "Team Confidence Man," in the TV CHOSUN weekend miniseries The Confidence Man KR (director Nam Ki-hoon, writer Hong Seung-hyun, produced by TME Group), which ended on the 12th, captivating viewers each episode with an unpredictable face. In particular, even amid diverse character transformations, he led the rhythm of the drama with unwavering acting and completed the character James three-dimensionally with pacing that moved between humor and charisma.
With his outstanding ability to embody characters, Park Hee-soon once again proved an overwhelming presence through The Confidence Man KR. Here is a one-on-one interview with Park Hee-soon, who perfectly melted into James in The Confidence Man KR.
Below is the full Q&A with Park Hee-soon on the conclusion of The Confidence Man KR.
Q. The drama The Confidence Man KR has ended. Please share your thoughts on finishing the work.
A. It feels both refreshing and bittersweet to have completed the filming and broadcast that continued from last year into this year. I sincerely thank domestic and international viewers who joined us.
Q. James, who appeared with a different face each episode, became a hot topic among viewers. Was there a comment that left the biggest impression on you?
A. The comment that left the biggest impression was, "Why do all the makeup and disguises look so good?" (laughs)
Q. There was also a lot of response that the chemistry of the "Conmenz" team in the drama was perfect. How was the acting chemistry with the actors you worked with?
A. Our close relationships offscreen naturally carried over onscreen, so the chemistry was really good. Sometimes like friends, sometimes like family, we relied on and led each other, so it was an enjoyable and happy time. I thank the two actors I worked with.
Q. James underwent deep internal changes between friendship, love and guilt. What did you focus on most when expressing that emotional line?
A. James's personal narrative all stemmed from his relationship with the "Conmenz," so the beginning of every emotion was ultimately affection for them. I tried to center my acting on that feeling.
Q. What kind of work will The Confidence Man KR remain as for actor Park Hee-soon?
A. I think it will be remembered as a work that relieved my long-suppressed thirst. It was a work where I could play exuberantly. (laughs)
Q. The drama is over, but it feels like the "Conmenz" team's operations are still going on somewhere. If James were to return, how would you like to meet him?
A. I want to rebuild the characters briefly shown so far with solid narratives and add deeper and richer emotions. Of course, I would add new characters to bring an even more dazzling and substantial story.
Q. You finished The Confidence Man KR and at the same time are meeting audiences with the film No Other Choice. How do you feel about presenting the two works at similar times?
A. The filming periods were the same and the release times were almost identical, so the two works are so special to me that I can't think of them separately. They are works of different tones, and perhaps for that reason viewers found them more interesting. Both works have their own precious meanings to me.
Q. Lastly, please say a word to the viewers who loved The Confidence Man KR.
A. Thank you for all the interest and love. The regular broadcast has ended, but you can watch it again anytime through platforms, so if you enjoyed it, please recommend it to many people around you. Now you can binge-watch it at once, which will make it more engaging. If your support continues, our "Conmenz" will return anytime. Thank you:)[photo] provided
