Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 53, and American pop star Katy Perry, 40, were spotted enjoying a date on a yacht. Trudeau divorced in 2023, and Perry recently split with Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom.
The U.K. daily the Daily Mail on the 12th (local time) published photos of Trudeau and Perry hugging and kissing on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California. Several outlets including Fox News in the United States subsequently ran the photos.
Earlier, U.S. entertainment outlet TMZ reported that Trudeau and Perry were spotted having dinner together in Montreal, Canada, in late Jul. A few days later, Trudeau was also seen at Perry's concert in Canada.
At the time, dating rumors surfaced, and U.S. media interpreted this yacht date as the two "officially certifying" their relationship. People magazine in the United States asked Perry's Spokesperson for comment but did not receive an immediate response, and Trudeau's Spokesperson declined to comment.
Trudeau led Canada for more than nine years starting in 2015 and stepped down as prime minister in Mar. His ex-wife is Sophie Grégoire, a former television host. They married in 2005 and have two sons and a daughter.
When Trudeau and Perry were spotted dining together in Montreal, it was about a month after Perry had split from Bloom. The two began by whispering to each other at the Golden Globes after-party in 2016 and developed into a romantic relationship. In 2017, reports of discord were followed by a breakup, but rumors spread that they had reunited a few months later.
In Feb. 2019, in time for Valentine's Day, photos of Bloom proposing to Perry were released. At the time, there was speculation that the flower-shaped ring Bloom put on Perry's finger was worth $5 million. The two welcomed a daughter in Aug. 2020. They did not hold a wedding but lived as a close-knit family, and their split was confirmed in Jun. this year.
