BABYMONSTER kicked off its global popularity drive in earnest by reaching the top of Japan's Oricon chart with mini album 2, "WE GO UP."
On the 13th, YG Entertainment said BABYMONSTER's mini album 2 [WE GO UP] ranked No. 1 on the Oricon daily album chart dated the 11th, the album's release date in Japan.
It was the first time they had reached No. 1 on Oricon, Japan's largest music ranking site recognized for its credibility and popularity, and BABYMONSTER immediately captured local fans' hearts, proving their hot popularity.
The album includes four new songs in total: the hip-hop-based title track "WE GO UP," which carries intense energy; the catchy-melodied "PSYCHO"; the R&B hip-hop track "SUPA DUPA LUV"; and the country-pop dance song "WILD." Even across different genres, BABYMONSTER's distinctive personality and energy shine through, proving an even more developed musical spectrum.
The title track "WE GO UP" is a song expressing the ambition to leap toward higher places, and it raises its completeness with a striking brass line, unrestrained rapping and thrilling high notes forming an exquisite harmony. Immediately after release, it rose to the top ranks of major Japanese music charts such as iTunes, AWA and Rakuten Music, garnering enthusiastic responses from local listeners.
Even before their official Japanese debut, BABYMONSTER had already secured a solid foothold locally with an unprecedented trajectory. They have continued to act like a "fifth-generation representative girl group" with overwhelming buzz and influence, including long-term dominance of music charts, appearances on terrestrial music shows, magazine cover features, performances at large music festivals and selection as brand models.
In the first half of this year, through the "2025 BABYMONSTER 1st WORLD TOUR IN JAPAN," they drew a total audience of 150,000, setting the record for the shortest time and largest audience in K-pop girl group history, and buoyed by the passionate support of local fans they will hold the fan concert tour "BABYMONSTER "LOVE MONSTERS" JAPAN FAN CONCERT 2025."
Starting at Chiba LaLa Arena Tokyo Bay on Nov. 15 and 16, they will connect with fans in four cities in total: Aichi Nagoya IG Arena on Nov. 22 and 23, Tokyo Ariake Arena on Dec. 2 and 3, and Hyogo Jiraion Arena Kobe on Dec. 6 and 7.
