Actor Kim Hong-eun expressed a tender feeling as she sent off the 19th run of Sheer Madness.
Kim Hong-eun successfully completed the final performance of the 19th run of the play Sheer Madness on the 12th. She had been on stage since March for about seven months, breathing with the audience and illuminating the production.
In the play, Kim Hong-eun played Jang Mi-suk, a hairstylist with a lively yet sexy charm, who was one of the suspects in a murder that occurred upstairs from the hair salon where she works. In particular, her seductive expressions and movements immediately captured viewers' attention.
Through her agency, Kim Hong-eun expressed special affection for Sheer Madness. Below is Kim Hong-eun's Q&A.
Q. How do you feel after successfully completing the 19th run of Sheer Madness?
A. At first, the six months felt endlessly long, but looking back the time really flew by. I feel sad and a bit hurt that it's ending, but I also feel relieved.
Q. What does the play Sheer Madness mean to actor Kim Hong-eun?
A. It is a very meaningful and precious work to me because I met a wonderful director and fellow actors and worked with them. Especially while doing Sheer Madness, Director Seo Seong-jong gave me a lot of acting advice and sense. I am always grateful.
Q. Is there a most memorable episode while performing the play?
A. The most memorable moment I want to mention is the day when the character Jang Mi-suk that I played was well seen by the audience. There was a day I was satisfied with my acting, and after the performance an audience member came up crying and said it was very painful and moving. Hearing that the audience felt what I felt made me proud and made me want to work harder.
I tried to express every moment as Jang Mi-suk, but it was upsetting when it didn't go as I wanted. So I remember the times when my acting was well conveyed to the audience.
Q. Is there anything a fan or audience member said while you were performing that you remember?
A. I felt good and it remained memorable when people said the ending monologue was fresh because it was different from the Jang Mi-suks they had seen so far. I'm proud that I could reach many people with my own color of Jang Mi-suk.
Q. How would you like the character Jang Mi-suk, as played by Kim Hong-eun, to be remembered by the audience?
A. When people recall the character Jang Mi-suk from Sheer Madness, I hope they think of me first. I want to leave such a strong impression on the audience.
Q. This is a work where the rapport with the audience is important. What would you like to say to the audiences who stayed with you until the end?
A. Thank you for loving and taking interest in the 19th run of Sheer Madness up to now. Because of the audience, I was able to finish the performances happily. I will strive to return soon with a good work. Please look forward to my future steps.<
