Actor Hong Hwayeon continued a brilliant year of achievements by winning the female newcomer award at the 2025 Korea Drama Awards.
The Korea Drama Awards, held as the main event of the 2025 Korea Drama Festival, is an awards ceremony recognizing domestic drama works, actors and production teams broadcast during the year, and this year it was held Oct. 11 at the Gyeongnam Culture and Art Center in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do.
In the first half of this year, Hong Hwayeon perfectly embodied distinctive characters such as Yeo Eun-nam in Buried Hearts, Jang Young-hye in Tastefully Yours, and Yoon Jeong-hee in I Am A Running Mate, proving a wide acting spectrum despite being a newcomer. Through a variety of works that left a deep impression on viewers, she embraced the newcomer award trophy at this ceremony and established herself as a rising star.
Hong Hwayeon said she was really happy and honored to have been able to greet audiences with various characters through multiple works in the first half of this year, and she said she would accept the award given today as a sign to work harder and show a better side as a more diligent actor.
She added, "There are so many people I am grateful to. I sincerely thank everyone who helped and supported me with things I could never have accomplished alone," conveying a warm message to those who worked with her.
Meanwhile, the newcomer award winner Hong Hwayeon announced she will continue steady work and is concentrating on filming the next tvN drama "Secret Gratitude".
