Choi Hyun-wook took the mound as the ceremonial pitcher in the KBO League semifinal playoff Game 1 between the SSG Landers and the Samsung Lions at Incheon SSG Landers Field on the 9th.
That day, Choi Hyun-wook threw a fastball at the child who stepped up to bat, drawing criticism from some baseball fans that he did not consider the child. In response, Choi Hyun-wook apologized, saying, "When a young friend is standing there, I should have thrown the ball slowly from close by, but I didn't think of that. I am truly sorry."
