Seong Dong-il, Kim Hee-won and Jang Nara take on new roles as hosts of tvN 'Across the Sea House On Wheels: Hokkaido edition', which premieres today (12th).
Three years after its return, CJ ENM's flagship hit variety IP, tvN 'Across the Sea House On Wheels: Hokkaido edition' (directed by Shin Chan-yang, Kim Ah-rim/hereafter "Badaljip"), with the concept of traveling with your own home, follows the House On Wheels that spent the four seasons across Korea as it embarks on a new adventure overseas. After long-time hosts Seong Dong-il and Kim Hee-won, actress Jang Nara joins as the first female homeowner, foreshadowing a fresh change for Badaljip.
In the premiere episode airing today, the trio of Seong Dong-il, Kim Hee-won and Jang Nara, who formed a sibling-like team, begin an exciting journey as they cross the sea with Badaljip for the first time. Actor Um Tae-goo, a close friend of Kim Hee-won, and Shin Eun-soo join as the first guests, enriching the inaugural overseas front yard.
Meanwhile, Jang Nara shared her thoughts on becoming the new homeowner. Jang Nara said, "Because I haven't done it before it's chaotic, but I think it will be fun," and added, "To me, 'Badaljip' is an adventure on the level of Tom Sawyer," revealing her human side. She also shared her husband's reaction, saying, "My husband said that he thought 'Badaljip' would suit me and that I had made it. When I told him about the offer he called right away and came home beaming in the evening," drawing laughter.
Jang Nara also revealed the behind-the-scenes story of obtaining a trailer license for Badaljip. She complained, "You have to turn the wheel with your whole body, but I'm short so my feet don't reach the end of the pedals," and confessed, "My husband said, 'If you get the license you'll look really cool,' so I worked hard. But I failed the next day. I was so angry I ate mala soup and regrouped, then I passed on the next try," causing Seong Dong-il to burst out laughing. Seong Dong-il and Kim Hee-won even teased, "She does anything when she's angry, so we'll keep provoking her from now on," starting to rib Jang Nara. Expectations are rising for the chemistry that 'Tom Sawyer' Jang Nara and playful Seong Dong-il and Kim Hee-won will create.
The first housewarming guests, Um Tae-goo and Shin Eun-soo, add more laughs with unexpected charms. Usually known for his taciturn nature, when Um Tae-goo engages in nonstop back-and-forth banter with Shin Eun-soo, Kim Hee-won exclaims, "Tae-goo, have you picked up more words since doing YouTube?" Curiosity grows about the 'extremely introverted' Um Tae-goo's transformation into a chatterbox.
Meanwhile, the episode delivers lavish exotic moods and scenery from Badaljip as it ventures into its first overseas front yard after roaming Korea's provinces through the four seasons. It is also expected to reveal the deadly skills of 'Chef Seong' Seong Dong-il, who will cook delicious dishes using local ingredients. Anticipation soars for the first broadcast of Badaljip, which returns with a new front yard, new members and a new home.
On the other hand, tvN's brand campaign that supports busy modern people in regaining their post-work routines, 'Ttwibien: After-work RUN', drew more than 20,000 applicants on Sept. 9, marking a successful start to the campaign. Participants must complete the 'watch' (tvN content viewing verification mission) and 'run' (running mission) missions by watching various tvN programs such as 'Across the Sea House On Wheels: Hokkaido edition', Typhoon Family, Shin's Project, You Quiz and Amazing Saturday from Oct. 4 (Sat) to Oct. 30 (Thu).
