The band ONEWE delivered a performance full of surprising twists on Immortal Songs.
ONEWE (Yonghun, Kanghyun, Harin, Dongmyeong, Giuk) appeared on the Nov. 11 broadcast of KBS 2TV's Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend, artist Park Jung-hyun episode, showcasing a variety of moods and proving once again the label of a "band you can trust to listen to."
That day ONEWE chose Park Jung-hyun's "A Wound Deeper Than Love," offering a different charm not seen before with ONEWE's deep emotion. Yonghun opened the performance with the signature line "I'll heal you," announcing the start of the main stage with his attractive mid-low voice, and Dongmyeong's harmony was added soon after to maximize immersion.
From the appearance of an autumn man full of emotion stylishly wearing a trench coat, the mood changed 180 degrees when Yonghun and Dongmyeong threw off their trench coats. ONEWE's bright and exciting band sound combined with a lively newtro rhythmic sensibility, prompting enthusiastic responses from the audience. Yonghun's explosive shouting following the members' passionate playing was the finishing touch.
Original artist Park Jung-hyun, who watched ONEWE's stage, praised it, saying, "I was surprised, thinking 'so you can sing it like this.' It's my first time seeing ONEWE live, and I thought 'I must go see them if they hold a concert.' I listened well to another side of 'A Wound Deeper Than Love' that is energetic yet sad from the title, and to the point that 'this song can heal.'"
Im Woo-jin also added, "I was fooled by the interesting fake-out of opening the stage with a single acoustic guitar at the intro. It went with the same chords as the original and then completely flipped the mood. I think it was a radical arrangement," drawing attention.
ONEWE released their fourth mini album MAZE : AD ASTRA on Nov. 7 and made a sudden comeback. With all members participating evenly in lyric writing, composing, and arranging, they are being evaluated as having further solidified the group's musical identity. Through MAZE : AD ASTRA, ONEWE developed distinctive storytelling and continues to be active as a "skillful band" by appearing in various music shows and web content.
