Top Japanese actress Yonekura Ryoko has been entangled in drug allegations.
On the 11th, local Japanese media reported that Yonekura Ryoko is under investigation by the drug enforcement division on suspicion of violating the Drug Control Law.
Yonekura Ryoko is a top Japanese actress and the lead of the Japanese drama series Doctor-X, which boasted an unbroken box-office record through season 7. She also played the lead role of Roxy in the Broadway musical Chicago.
She has recently been the subject of rumors about health problems. In 2019 she confessed to battling a condition of decreased cerebrospinal fluid, and the following year she left her long-time agency, Oscar Promotion, after a prolonged period of strained breathing.
In 2022 she left the production of Chicago after being diagnosed with acute low back pain and decreased motor function. Later foreign media reported that she was recovering after surgery, but it was said she had not regained the stamina she once had.
Meanwhile, since last month Yonekura Ryoko repeatedly missed ambassador announcement ceremonies and commissioning events she was scheduled to attend. She also did not attend the model silhouette awards event she was due to attend on the 6th. All absences were cited as due to health reasons.
