Singer Baek Ji-young revealed her firm educational philosophy toward her daughter Ha-im.
On the 11th, a video titled "Dad Jeong Seok-won disciplines a daughter who throws tantrums while mom is on a business trip (a loving spanking)" was posted on Baek Ji-young's YouTube channel. The video showed a day Jeong Seok-won spent with their daughter Ha-im while Baek Ji-young was away for performance commitments.
In the video, Ha-im, having caught a cold and unable to go to school, insisted on following her father to the gym. Jeong Seok-won, looking perplexed, called his wife, and Baek Ji-young made a realistic but firm judgment, saying, "There's no point in going to the gym just to sit there. She has a cold, so just watch cartoons at home."
In the process, Jeong Seok-won suggested, "Let's remove Ha-im's mosaic; it's frustrating," but Baek Ji-young immediately drew the line, saying, "No." She explained, "Before her identity is established, I don't want her to be called 'someone's daughter.' That's a principle we set from the time Ha-im was born." Jeong Seok-won nodded in agreement, saying, "Right, I had briefly forgotten," expressing understanding of his wife's educational philosophy.
They then talked about their daughter's career concerns. When Jeong Seok-won asked, "Ha-im wants to go to college but says she doesn't want to study. What should we do?", Baek Ji-young replied, "Just leave her be. Ha-im is growing up wisely and well," showing a parenting approach that respects their daughter's autonomy.
Meanwhile, Baek Ji-young and Jeong Seok-won's daughter Ha-im is known to be enrolled at an international school in Jeju with tuition around 30 million won. Baek Ji-young previously said, "As a mother who works late, I chose a school that offers after-school activities rather than private academies."
