It was revealed that the female MC of "Saranghae Studio" who appeared in the new weekend drama 'Typhoon Family,' which recorded the highest premiere ratings on tvN this year, is KBS announcer Lee Sun-young.
Announcer Lee Sun-young posted late on the night of the 11th, "It went by in an instant; I wonder if anyone noticed haha. I'm grateful I could appear as a cameo in a wonderful work. I acted so I wouldn't stand out..no… I did my best in my main job," and wrote, "We recreated the popular 1990s program 'Sarangui Studio.' At the time the female MC was a former Miss Korea, so I put a little effort into my appearance. I asked the makeup team to 'make me unrecognizable, like it's not me'... Did you recognize me?"
She added, "The director told me, 'Do it like you always do, and add a touch of coyness,' so I did an exaggerated dance and raised my tone to my heart's content," and said, "Actors Lee Jun-ho, Kim Min-seok, and Lim Sung-jae were all great, and I learned a lot from the women cast and even from the 'male No. 4.'" She also said, "And thanks to my wonderful partner Kim Jung-geun, I was able to film more comfortably. #Thanks"
Lee Sun-young also wrote, "Maybe because of the image change or my way of speaking, it was a brief moment, but seeing 'me who is not me' on screen was thrilling. The job of an actor... 'living someone else's life' is truly attractive," and posted several photos with the caption, "I hope those who glanced at me today enjoyed seeing, 'Oh my, she has that side too?' haha. Please give lots of love to the drama #Typhoon Family, and fighting to all the actors and staff."
In the released photos, former KBS announcer Lee Sun-young is shown making a special appearance in the drama 'Typhoon Family' with announcer Kim Jung-geun. The two transformed into MCs of "Saranghae Studio," a parody of the original 1990s dating program 'Sarangui Studio,' and attracted attention with exaggerated makeup and costumes. In episode 1 of the drama, the program features a setting in which the protagonist Kang Taepung (played by Lee Jun-ho) appears in place of a friend and receives all the attention of the female contestants, increasing the viewing enjoyment.
Previously, announcer Lee Sun-young joined as part of KBS's 31st class of hired announcers in 2005 and resigned effective July 31 of this year.
Meanwhile, the first episode of 'Typhoon Family,' which premiered on the 11th, recorded nationwide household average ratings of 5.9% and a peak of 7.1%, and Seoul metropolitan area household average ratings of 5.7% and a peak of 7.1%, ranking first in its time slot across all channels including terrestrial broadcasters and becoming the highest premiere rating among tvN weekend dramas in 2025. The 20-49 demographic ratings also ranked first in its time slot across all channels with a nationwide average of 1.8% and a peak of 2.4%.
