Singer Ryu Philip revealed why he decided to marry Mina despite their 17-year age difference.
On the 11th, a video titled "Everyone said we were crazy, but why I decided to marry singer Mina despite a 17-year age difference" was uploaded to the "Philmi Couple" channel.
That day, while Ryu Philip was doing a live broadcast with Mina, he responded to a comment saying "It's admirable to see Philip respecting his wife," by expressing his affection: "I respect Mina even just from her outward appearance, but what you see is just the tip of the iceberg. People whose inner selves are beautiful also have beautiful outward appearances. It shows on the face."
He said, "Mina is genuinely kind. Doesn't she sacrifice and devote her life for me? There is no one like Mina." He continued, "I talked a lot about my past while appearing on many broadcast programs. I talked about a very difficult adolescence and an unfortunate family past, but when I looked back I realized that was a blessing. I had many waves in my past and many hardships and adversities, and after marrying Mina I realized that was a blessing. I thought that they gave me long periods of hardship and adversity to develop my ability to judge people."
He added, "I saw Mina and decided to get married. People probably thought we were crazy because of the 17-year gap at the time. But think carefully. The only thing Mina lacked was age. In life, how much are we distracted by trivial things? When I meet people, I think this person is older, this person is younger, this person has money, this person doesn't, this person's personality doesn't match mine, this person's personality does. Those aren't truly important. Whether this person is good for marriage or not is what matters, yet people complain about this and that. That's not what's important now."
Ryu Philip said, "Whether you really like this person or not. Whether she is the woman I should marry. Whether she is someone I must not lose. That's what matters. I felt Mina was someone I must not lose. Seventeen years or whatever, age isn't important; I thought we should get married. Age difference can be solved by working out and living diligently. Physical things can be managed with effort to overcome time. Look at Mina. She's 17 years different from me but healthier than I am."
When asked "what aspect of Mina he liked," he said, "She is a truly diligent woman. One of the things that moved me about Mina was that when I visited her home, her mother-in-law was there. As the eldest daughter she cares for the family. She's not just the eldest in name; she earns money diligently, uses that money to give her mother allowance and solve her siblings' needs. I wondered if such a woman exists. Of course there may be many women besides Mina who support their families and live diligently, but she was the first for me. I decided without hesitation that she was the one," expressing his respect.
He continued, "You might think you'll meet good people on the next bus, but if you miss someone, that could be the end. If you miss them, they could be the last person of your life. So don't judge people. It's a really bad habit. Sometimes when people talk about relationships over drinks, there are those who say, 'I should have married that woman back then.' You have to overcome and erase the past quickly. There is no relationship without common ground. If I'm drawn to something, it's because there is common ground. Any connection has a reason. That's how I see it," he candidly shared.
