Park Seojin expressed remorse after seeing his father sit down during a family trip due to a sudden decline in health.
On Nov. 11, KBS2 Mr. House Husband 2 showed Park Seojin and his family on their first overseas trip to Macau.
When Park Seojin visited the jerky alley that day, passing locals reacted with comments such as "Park Seojin?" and "So handsome." Hyojung exclaimed in surprise, "It's amazing—the people of Macau recognize oppa," and Park Seojin tried to deny it, saying, "They're Korean. You can tell they're Korean at a glance."
Hyojung said, "No, they're Chinese. They're speaking Chinese," and their mother happily said, "They're recognizing us because we're in Macau." Nancy, seeing this, said, "Your parents must be so proud," and indeed Park Seojin's mother smiled and said, "I feel like I've become a star. It was ecstatic."
Park Seojin said shyly, "I was embarrassed," and Eun Ji-won and Baek Ji-young expressed their delight, saying, "We feel proud watching this—how much prouder the parents must feel."
Afterwards the four visited various tourist sites and took photos. Their mother said, "We never had a honeymoon when we were young. We always wanted to go on a honeymoon but it never worked out, so holding dad's hand and jumping together like that was so enjoyable and happy," and the father laughed, "Coming down the stairs I felt like I was going to die, but we played rock-paper-scissors to decide how to go down. She would go three or four steps and I would go one. We had fun. It felt like a honeymoon."
The next stop was in front of Macau's Eiffel Tower, a scaled-down replica of the one in Paris. Park Seojin explained, "Isn't this Hyojung's first overseas trip? It was part of the plan from the start, and I thought it would feel like seeing many countries of the world. I wanted to give her a taste of world travel, so I prepared this for Park Hyojung."
Just then the illumination show began and the Park family admired it and took photos. While that was happening, Park Seojin's father began limping and eventually sat down and silently took out his medicine. In an interview the father confessed, "I'm sick but I could move a little so I followed along, but my body got like this and I feel like I should be doing something. I couldn't do anything, and if I can't move any more I won't be able to go. I felt like a burden, so I was sorry," and their mother burst into tears hearing this.
Seeing her father sit down later, the mother said, "If you're sick you should tell us," and the father smiled and said, "I'm fine. As long as you all are happy." The mother sadly said, "I was foolish not to know my husband's pain," and Park Seojin also said painfully, "Did I plan the itinerary selfishly thinking only of ourselves and not our parents? I don't even know where the hospital is or how to call 119. Even if we immediately bought plane tickets to return to Korea, it would still take 12 hours."
The father said, "I'll feel better if I walk around with the kids. I'm in a good mood," but in the end he stopped the trip and returned to the accommodation supported by Park Seojin and Hyojung.
The next day the father still seemed not fully recovered and remained lying in bed. He said, "You all go ahead. Dad will be fine if I lie down a bit," but Park Seojin said, "I felt guilty traveling without dad and couldn't bring myself to leave," and could not easily step away.
The father said, "Don't worry—since we're here, at least let mom enjoy a little sightseeing," and the mother replied, "What fun would it be if I went alone? It's fun when we go together."
In the end Park Seojin repeatedly told them, "Call me if anything happens," before going out. He said, "Dad was so sick the day before but the next day his appetite was better and he seemed a bit improved. Still, I told him to rest comfortably at the hotel and came out to show mom and Park Hyojung a bit of Hong Kong sightseeing since we were on the trip."
That night, the surprise appearance of the father drew attention. The mother exclaimed, "You said you wouldn't come," and the father knelt before her and said, "I missed my wife and I couldn't not come while you're at the accommodation. Yumi, let's do something for each other in our 70 years of life," creating a touching moment.
