A Nepalese boy named Tamang, who captured viewers' hearts after being called "Kian84's younger brother," has begun receiving full sponsorship.
The international relief and development NGO Worldshare recently said, "We will register Tamang in a Korean language academy and provide living expenses so he can live healthily in unfamiliar Kathmandu and continue his studies stably." It added, "We will help with opening a bank account and other settlement support, and we will continue ongoing communication going forward."
Earlier, Tamang became a topic of conversation after forming a special bond with Kian84 on MBC's Adventure By Accident 4. Having supported himself by working as a porter from age 14, he received significant attention through the show, and recently, with the help of a local coordinator, he has been living and working at a Korean restaurant in Kathmandu while receiving room and board.
Since June, Worldshare has run a campaign for Tamang and children in Nepal's highland areas through Naver Happy Bean and its own website. The fundraising quickly reached its goal, and Tamang is scheduled to receive Korean language tuition and living expenses directly this November. At the same time, tuition and living expenses will be provided for about 20 children in Tamang's hometown of Solokombu in Namche district.
Through Worldshare, Tamang said, "I am truly grateful to the sponsors who helped me. The many cheers and support give me great strength, and I am really happy. I heard Korea also has Chuseok. I sincerely wish everyone who cheered for me a happy holiday."
Meanwhile, Tamang visited Korea recently with Rai through the recently ended MBC every1 show Are You New to Korea?, receiving viewers' support once again.<
