Actress Kim Sung-eun candidly revealed a difficult past.
On the 9th, the tvN STORY Chuseok special Shin Dong-yup's Who Ordered Coffee? Soonpoong Family depicted the sitcom Soonpoong Obstetrics and Gynecology cast gathering in one place for the first time in 25 years.
That day, Kim Sung-eun, who was loved for her role as Midal, shared the story of attending university for 15 years. She said, "I enrolled in 2010, and this fall is my final semester. My father passed away the year I entered school," and added, "As an only daughter, I became the head of the household. I couldn't afford tuition, so I took a leave of absence and went through part-time jobs and regular work before returning."
She especially confessed that she suffered from alcohol dependence after her father's death. Kim Sung-eun said, "I was young and I think I just wanted to let go," and recalled, "Then I thought, 'I can't live like this. Everything will be ruined. Dad wouldn't like this,' so I made an effort and was able to recover."
In response, Park Young-gyu said, "My heart aches. But acting comes from what you've lived. The time you went through will one day remain as depth in your acting," offering warm advice.
Meanwhile, Kim Sung-eun has continued to be active since beginning stage plays in 2018.
