Actor Jung Il-woo's dating rumors have drawn reactions that his agency's silence, saying "cannot confirm," effectively amounts to an admission.
On the 9th, Jung Il-woo was suddenly engulfed in dating rumors.
It started with an SNS photo. Jung Il-woo posted photos on his personal SNS saying "a good day," and one of the photos featured a woman. The composition, with Jung Il-woo and the woman sitting across from each other at a restaurant seemingly taking pictures of each other, prompted suspicions of a "loves-tag" as if the couple had taken the photos while on a date.
Fans even began tracking down the woman. She is said to be the female CEO of a brand for which Jung Il-woo works as a model. This turned into rumors that Jung Il-woo was dating a beautiful female CEO.
Sensing the controversy, Jung Il-woo quickly deleted the post. The speed was fitting for what people call "light delete," but it did not dampen the ripple effect. Captured images circulated on online communities.
Meanwhile, Jung Il-woo's agency announced a "cannot confirm" stance. A representative for Jung Il-woo cautiously gave an official statement to OSEN, saying, "It is the actor's private life, so it is difficult to confirm. We ask for your understanding."
Conventionally, in cases of dating rumors, "cannot confirm" is interpreted as "effectively an admission." Nonetheless, they drew a line by calling it "private life." As a result, Jung Il-woo's dating rumors, which heated up at the end of the holiday, attracted even more attention.
