Kim Woo-bin explained why he candidly revealed his battle with nasopharyngeal cancer on a broadcast.
On the 9th, a video titled "Waiting with Kim Woo-bin for the fried dumplings that never come" was uploaded to the "BDNS" channel.
Mun Sang-hoon mentioned that Kim Woo-bin had paused activities in the entertainment industry to fight cancer and asked, "There was that period called "a vacation given by heaven," and even at that point many people, including me, drew strength. People around you spoke a lot, didn't they?"
Kim Woo-bin said, "After seeing You Quiz and other shows, many people really reached out. They reacted upon hearing the news, and after seeing You Quiz many people told me it was a great comfort. I was so surprised," adding, "When people get sick they naturally look things up online. But there are so many negative stories. That makes you feel worse. Sometimes when I see on blogs people who have fully recovered and are living their daily lives, even though they are strangers, I gain so much strength from them. It made me want to be like that too."
Mun Sang-hoon asked, "So Mr. Woo-bin is also a power blogger. He now has a blogger following in the hundreds of thousands. When you said you can now talk about that time with a lighter heart, what comes to mind or what had the biggest impact on you then?"
Kim Woo-bin said, "Things I took for granted," adding, "Eating three meals a day, working without incident, going home and resting comfortably — when I think about it those are things to be very thankful for, but we, myself included, overlooked them. When I'm busy I forget, but doing interviews helps me realign my mind. Health is the most important thing."
Earlier, Kim Woo-bin appeared on You Quiz in May 2023, and on that day he drew attention by describing his 2017 diagnosis and battle with nasopharyngeal cancer as a vacation given by heaven. Kim Woo-bin openly confessed his experience, saying, "I'm naturally somewhat positive. I think every situation has both drawbacks and advantages. Because I had been busy and couldn't rest, I thought maybe heaven gave me a vacation," which sparked public interest.
