The legendary landscaping sisters who built a 1 trillion won myth with a 3-pyeong startup, sisters Woo Kyung-mi and Woo Hyun-mi, and the "K-luxury empress" Woo Young-mi's national-treasure-level sister showdown will be unveiled on Neighbor Millionaire.
The EBS show Seo Jang-hoon's Neighbor Millionaire (hereinafter "Neighbor Millionaire"), airing at 9:55 p.m. tonight (8th), features sisters Woo Kyung-mi and Woo Hyun-mi, "the living legends of Korea's landscaping world." But there was another "national-treasure-level genius" in the family who made a name for herself even earlier than the sisters. It is Woo Young-mi, the "K-luxury designer" beloved in Paris. Neighbor Millionaire will stage an unprecedented "national-treasure-level sister showdown" as the three sisters representing Korea pit "genius vs. genius" and "wealth vs. wealth," drawing intense interest.
Woo Young-mi is the designer who shook the global fashion world by becoming the first Korean brand to enter Paris's luxury shopping street. By contrast, sisters Woo Kyung-mi and Woo Hyun-mi are revolutionaries in landscaping who created an indoor park inside a department store, and recently reinforced their standing as the "golden-hand sisters of landscaping" by displaying "mad aesthetics" in the film No Other Choice, starring Park Chan-wook and Lee Byung-hun. In the broadcast, the two recall their start in 1999, saying "At first we started in a 3-pyeong space under the stairs of Woo Young-mi's office building." Seo Jang-hoon joked, "Why didn't you call it a bit bigger if you were going to say it?" and Woo Hyun-mi laughed, "We couldn't; land prices in that neighborhood were high." Still, she conveyed the fierce passion of the time, saying, "I didn't want to be a burden. I wanted to become independent quickly and be confident."
The sisters, who were once tenants in Woo Young-mi's building, have risen to become landscaping magnates owning a 2,000-pyeong office building. Seo Jang-hoon exclaimed in curiosity, "Teacher Woo Young-mi was the richest, did you surpass her now?" According to sources, Woo Hyun-mi's answer left Seo Jang-hoon and Jang Ye-won too shocked and astonished to speak. Meanwhile, Seo Jang-hoon surprised viewers by revealing an unexpected connection, saying, "I once went to that office building and met Teacher Woo Young-mi." He also said, "In six months I will bring Teacher Woo Young-mi on the show in person," raising expectations for the fashion empress's appearance.
The national-treasure-level sister showdown, where sense and wealth, art and success collide, will be broadcast on EBS's Seo Jang-hoon's Neighbor Millionaire on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 9:55 p.m.
